- Development DBA background

- Cloud (Azure) and on-prem background
- Good experience with Azure Resources/Services (Synapse Analytics, Data Factory, Functions, Logic Apps, etc.)
- Build & tune queries, tables
- Good coding skills (SQL, Python, PowerShell, JSON, PostgreSQL, Spark, etc.)
- Code review experience
- Currently, 75% hands-on development and 25% management (goal is to flip this)
- Currently, 1 direct report with an off-shore team
Summary:
The Data Services Manager is responsible for providing hands-on leadership and overseeing daily operations of the data management teams (Database Administrators, Data Engineers, Data Analysts, and Software Engineers) to achieve full life-cycle data solutions.
- Define team objectives, provide guidance and support to teams.
- Create data management policy and promote data quality, data integrity, and data security.
- Ensure documentation of processes and procedures, including a review of best practices.
- Design databases, architect solutions, and develop pipelines for data movement to/from various sources and target data systems.
- Support on-prem and cloud databases.
- Actively monitor, maintain, analyze, update/upgrade all managed data platforms.
- Oversee and assist with the design and development of web-based dashboards and UIs.
- Troubleshoot data-related problems across various business systems (on-prem and cloud).
- Ensure stakeholder requests are met and effective reporting is offered to drive improved decision-making.
Qualifications include, but not limited to:
- 7+ years of Development DBA and SQL programming experience
- 2-5 years experience in a hands-on supervisory/management role
- Proven experience with Azure Resources/Services (Synapse Analytics, Data Factory, Functions, Logic Apps, App Registrations, Key Vault, etc.)
- Experience with Microsoft on-prem platforms (SSMS, SSIS, etc.) and Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems
- Demonstrated experience with Microsoft SQL Server Development including: creation of tables / schema definition, views, stored procedures, functions, triggers and performance optimization
- Solid coding skills (SQL, KQL, PostgreSQL, JSON, Python, Spark, etc.)
- Experience with on-prem and cloud Data Warehousing required
- Experience in database tuning and database archiving
- ETL development / business intelligence report writing
- Experience with API development preferred
- Demonstrated ability to perform database troubleshooting and implement solutions
- Knowledge and understanding of data, database design / structure, and business uses
- Ability to lead, manage, motivate, and develop a remote workforce (including offshore resources) to maximum potential
