A prominent law firm is seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Legal Assistant to support our defense litigation team out of either their West LA or South Bay, CA office . The ideal candidate will possess strong organizational skills, the ability to prioritize multiple tasks, and a solid understanding of litigation processes.
Responsibilities:
- Provide administrative support to attorneys in all phases of defense litigation, including pre-trial, trial, and post-trial matters.
- Prepare, edit, and format legal documents such as pleadings, motions, subpoenas, discovery responses, and correspondence.
- Assist with case management, including organizing case files, maintaining case calendars, and tracking deadlines.
- File legal documents with state and federal courts, both electronically and manually, ensuring compliance with court rules and procedures.
- Schedule and coordinate meetings, depositions, hearings, and court appearances.
- Conduct basic legal research and gather relevant case information as needed.
- Communicate professionally with clients, court personnel, opposing counsel, and other third parties.
- Assist with billing, expense reporting, and time entry.
- Perform other administrative duties as assigned to ensure the efficient operation of the litigation team.
Qualifications:
- Minimum of 3 years of experience as a Legal Assistant, with a focus on defense litigation.
- Proficiency in legal software and tools, such as Microsoft Office Suite, legal document management systems, and e-filing platforms (e.g., PACER, CM/ECF).
- Strong understanding of litigation procedures, court rules, and deadlines.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Superior organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and work under tight deadlines.
- Professional demeanor and ability to maintain confidentiality.
- Bachelor’s degree preferred but not required.
Compensation:
$65k - $85k depending on relevant experience.
