Tourmaline Oil Corp. is a Canadian senior crude oil and natural gas exploration and production company. We are focused on long-term growth through an aggressive exploration, development, production, and acquisition program in the Western Canadian Sedimentary Basin.
We are currently looking for a Contract Field Operator in our Northeast BC operating area and the position is based out of the Fort St John or Dawson Creek area.
PRIMARY FOCUS
The Field Operator has full working knowledge in all aspects of field operating activities and provide recommendations for performance improvement, as well as plan and coordinate the work of contract or maintenance crews. This is a 7 days on, 7 days off shift which includes working a night shift every 2nd shift.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
The successful candidate will be responsible for or assist with the following duties but not be limited to:
Report directly to the field rover or Lead Operator:
- Regulatory and compliance checks and inspections.
- Daily operation checks and routine maintenance of wells, flow lines and pumping equipment.
- Access remote locations to check wells, maintain normal operating levels, pressures and flows on separation equipment. Make adjustments to automatic and manual controls as required.
- Monitor and perform general maintenance on pipeline gathering systems and production wells.
- Contribute to accurate production records and production well testing. Enter well production data, tests, downtime and other necessary information into company field data capture system.
- Complete projects and reports on completed projects.
- Responsible for the optimization of work processes and well production.
- Accountable for following safe work practices by complying with company guidelines, regulatory body requirements and participating in company safety programs.
- Provide input for construction projects as required.
- Coordinate daily activities and assist other field and facility operators as needed.
- Monitor and maintain chemical injection rates as recommended.
- Start up and shut in wells.
- Seek out production optimization and cost saving opportunities.
- Perform daily tasks with minimal supervision.
- Maintain a good status in Complyworks and CMDS.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Minimum three (3) years of oil and gas operating experience is preferable.
- Demonstrate experience in integrating and coordinating all operational aspects.
- Experience with downhole and surface production equipment.
- A valid driver’s license is required (copy of valid driver’s license and Driver’s Abstract required).
- Demonstrate solid technical skills and problem solving abilities.
- Mechanical aptitude with excellent people, organizational and communication skills.
- Energetic and self-motivated team player.
- Working level computer skills.
- Completion of required safety and technical courses (H2S, First Aid, WHMIS and TDG).
- Production Field/Gas Process Operations training would be preferred.
- Experience in production monitoring and reporting systems (Cygnet, Scada, Prodview, etc.)
- Complete understanding of overall field production operations.
- Ability to perform physical work such as lifting, walking and working at heights.
- Able to work outdoors in all types of seasonal weather conditions.
