Mechanical Design Engineer
Our client is an established manufacturer of outdoor consumer products. They are looking for a Mechanical Design Engineer to join their team at their Richmond Hill office.
The successful candidate will be responsible for the design and development of new products, from concept to production, ensuring that they meet our standards of quality, performance, and reliability.
Responsibilities:
- Lead, Collaborate & Contribute to product development projects and activities.
- Specialize in full life cycle of product development - from analyzing customer needs through concepts, detailed design, manufacturing, assembly and testing of prototypes all the way to mass production using DFM & DFA methods.
- Create detailed product specifications, 3D models, and technical drawings using CAD software
- Build, evaluate and test prototypes to ensure they meet functional and performance objectives
- Optimize product design for mass production, while ensuring cost-effectiveness and adherence to quality standards
- Manage product development timelines and communicate project status to stakeholders
- Injection moulding tooling including design review, modifications, and general maintenance.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering
- 5+ years of experience in product design and development, with a focus on plastic/injection moulding
- Proficiency in parametric modelling (CAD) software, such as Fusion 360, SolidWorks or Inventor
- Comfort & proficiency with all aspects of injection moulding tooling, processes, and technology
- Experience with prototyping, testing, and manufacturing processes
- Proficient in product life cycle documentation, presentation, data tracking and BOM maintenance.
- Previous experience in NPI would be considered an asset.
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills, with attention to detail
