Job Description

Our client is an established automotive component manufacturer for over 40 years. They are currently hiring for a Product Engineer on a 6-9 month contract.


Role and Responsibilities:

  • Review detailed technical drawings of suspension and steering components.
  • Validate technical drawings against benchmark data and project specifications.
  • Identify gaps between technical drawings and benchmark data/specifications and collaborate with external manufacturers and internal lab to acquire required information.
  • Complete detailed specifications & conceptual drawings for submission of RFQs.
  • Work with peers on validating completed specification & conceptual drawings before submitted to contract manufactures.
  • Resolve and collaborate with external suppliers on manufacturing and/or design problems that arise during the drawing review process.
  • Document and capture all EDR’s and ECR’s.
  • Research vehicle platforms using available tools.


Qualifications:

  • Bachelors’ degree in Engineering/Applied Science or Diploma in Mechanical Engineering Technology.
  • 3+ years’ work experience in an automotive component design and/or drafting.
  • Experience in AutoCAD, Autodesk Mechanical or other 2D CAD Software required.
  • Experience in Autodesk Inventor or other 3D CAD Software required.
  • Experience with Finite Element Analysis (FEA) is an asset.
  • Experience in Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) software is an asset.
  • Experience in configuration of Autodesk Vault software is an asset.
  • Knowledge of Mechanical Testing (Hardness, Metallurgy, Tensile).
  • Knowledge of GD&T as per ASME Y14.5.
  • Knowledge of MS Office is required.
  • Experience in Project Management and managing multiple projects at the same time.
  • Self starter, driven and detail oriented.
  • Experience in interpreting and creating technical drawings.
  • Analytical, problem solving, and project management skills.
  • Proven ability to build effective business relationships.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
