Title: Senior Industrial Engineer

Location: Philadelphia, PA 19124

Duration: Direct Hire

Salary: Around $100K/yr

Work Schedule: 1st Shift, 8 AM to 5 PM, Monday – Friday with one hour lunch.


Job Description:

  • The senior-level Industrial Engineer is responsible for the technical leadership of the heat treatment department and the creation and implementation of its Preventative Maintenance, Reactive Maintenance, and Capital Improvement plans.
  • The Senior Industrial Engineer will also collaborate with our quality, manufacturing, and engineering departments using the collection and analysis of data to explore process and equipment upgrades with the shared goal of contributing to our continuous improvement efforts.
  • Once identified, this individual will work as part of a team to see that these opportunities are driven to their conclusion, including all necessary documentation and training.
  • This is a hands-on, technical leadership role that values discipline and brings the ability to audit and document existing and newly implemented processes and procedures in accordance with our Quality Management System (QMS).

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Demonstrate technical expertise in all areas of Heat Treatment: Furnace Designs and Components, Heat Delivery, Electronic Controls, Process Gases, Blowers and Ventilation, Water Cooling, Data Logging, Run Chart Interpretation, Part Fixturing, etc.
  • Bring hands-on experience in the design, maintenance, and troubleshooting of complex high-power systems to analyze, prove, and document each critical step in our heat-treat process.
  • Oversee, execute, and train others on the Preventative Maintenance program for the Heat Treat Department.
  • Direct the Heat Treat Technician to perform repair, maintenance, and improvement work to the equipment in the Heat Treat Department (ie: Furnaces, Disassociators, Controllers, Atmosphere Piping, etc.)
  • Design new electrical control systems and improve existing systems.
  • Create electrical schematics and panel drawings while maintaining a focus on industry standards & compliances.
  • Evaluate, recommend, develop budgets, oversee, and manage various capital improvement projects related to the heat treatment department.
  • Ensure relevant drawings, work instructions, and procedures are up to date and accessible, and document processes and procedures when missing.
  • Processes and procedures shall be compliant with ISO9001 requirements and the client’s Quality Management System (QMS).
  • Monitor furnace run charts and cylinder test results to verify production runs meet customer requirements.
  • Perform statistical analysis of data to detect outliers and issues.
  • Report any anomalies to Technical Products Leadership.
  • Develop and maintain a system for assessing furnace performance and communicating that performance to management.
  • Use data-driven decision-making, including collection, analysis, and summarizing data, and making recommendations to leadership based upon that data.
  • Occasional travel to Thailand may be required.
  • Provide technical support and training to all employees that are assigned to our HT facility.
  • Develop and implement a series of fail-safe processes for each critical process step in the daily operation of our hydrogen furnaces.
  • Verify LOTO and Confined Spaces programs are correctly implemented and facilitate their annual review.
  • Support business needs for safety and environmental reporting and compliance.


Qualifications:

  • Ability to read and interpret electrical and mechanical drawings and schematics.
  • Proficiency in electrical and mechanical troubleshooting.
  • Proficiency in PLC programming and relay logic.
  • Demonstrated understanding of system operating requirements, safety risks, and equipment and material limitations
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills required for a team-oriented environment.
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
  • Familiarity with and a working understanding of AMS2750, NADCAP, ISO9001, NFPA 86, NEC, Confined Space protocol, LOTO, etc.
  • Proficient with MS Office Suite including Excel, Word, and Outlook.
  • Perform basic plumbing, electrical wiring, welding, and soldering.


Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, and Electrical Engineering strongly preferred.
  • 5+ years of experience working in a Heat-Treating facility.
  • Demonstrated experience troubleshooting, process controls, electrical equipment, PLC programs, HMI applications, sensors, valves, SCRs, elements, vacuum pumps, thermocouples, and chart recorders.


Physical/Visual/Mental/Environmental Factors:

  • Lifting/Carrying up to 30 lbs.
  • Pushing/Pulling up to 30 lbs.
  • Working in a facility where temperatures can exceed 100°F in the summer.
  • Exposure to high-risk equipment.
  • Occasional exposure to hazardous materials, chemicals, and/or fumes.
