Position Title: Director of Infection Prevention

Position Type: Full-Time

Schedule: Days (No Weekends)

Location: Austin, TX


Position Overview:

The Director of Infection Prevention ensures high-quality, patient-centered care by leading the hospital-wide Infection Prevention Program. This includes surveillance, analysis, reporting of hospital-acquired infections, staff education, and the development of policies and procedures to meet rigorous infection control standards. Working in collaboration with the Infection Prevention (IP) Committee, this role drives initiatives to prevent and control infections, ensures compliance with regulatory standards, and fosters a culture of safety and quality improvement.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement infection prevention policies and procedures based on evidence-based practices and regulatory standards.
  • Conduct qualitative and quantitative analysis to identify and improve infection prevention opportunities.
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to address infection control issues and create area-specific policies.
  • Participate in emergency management activities, environmental rounds, bioterrorism planning, and emergency drills.
  • Ensure timely reporting of communicable diseases to medical staff and health authorities.
  • Maintain an accurate infection prevention database while adhering to HIPAA requirements.
  • Prepare and present comprehensive infection control program reports to internal and external stakeholders.
  • Stay updated on federal, state, local, and accreditation regulations related to infection control.


Qualifications:


Education:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in a health-related field (e.g., Microbiology, Epidemiology, Healthcare Administration) is required.
  • Master’s Degree in a health-related field is preferred.


Experience:

  • 5+ years in a clinical setting is required.
  • 2+ years in a leadership role is required.
  • 5+ years in Infection Control is required.


Certifications:

  • Certification in Infection Control is required.


Additional Information:

  • Reports to the Quality Department and oversees a team of 1 Manager, 3 Infection Prevention Coordinators, and an Administrative Support Staff.
  • Rounding and collaboration with various hospital teams are integral to the role.
  • Compensation includes a base salary and eligibility for a leadership incentive bonus.
