SUMMARY: The Vice President of Sales leads both the inside and outside sales teams at the company, drives revenue growth, expands market share, and builds strong customer relationships.


The duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Sales Strategy and Planning: Develop and execute strategic sales plans to achieve revenue targets, increase market penetration, and expand the customer base. Identify growth opportunities in target markets and industries, leveraging market research and competitive analysis.
  • Relationship Management: Cultivate and maintain relationships with key customers, partners, and stakeholders, including industrial manufacturers, distributors, contractors, and end-users. Conduct regular business reviews with strategic accounts to assess customer satisfaction, identify opportunities for upselling and cross-selling, and address any issues or concerns.
  • Sales Process Optimization: Evaluate and optimize the sales process, from lead generation and qualification to closing deals and post-sales support. Create usage conventions within the company CRM system and utilize other technologies to streamline sales operations and improve efficiency. Monitor sales metrics and key performance indicators (KPIs), such as conversion rates, win rates, and sales cycle length, to identify areas for improvement.
  • Customer Acquisition and Retention: Lead efforts to acquire new customers and expand relationships with existing customers, focusing on building long-term partnerships and driving customer loyalty. Develop and implement customer segmentation strategies to prioritize sales efforts and maximize revenue opportunities.
  • Market Development and Expansion: Identify emerging trends, customer needs, and competitive threats in the industrial distribution market, staying abreast of industry developments and market dynamics. Explore new geographic markets, product lines, and verticals to drive revenue growth and diversify the company's sales portfolio. Develop and execute go-to-market strategies for new products, services, and solutions, collaborating with product management, marketing, and operations teams.
  • Sales Forecasting and Reporting: Forecast sales volumes, revenues, and profitability, leveraging historical data, market trends, and input from the sales team. Prepare regular sales reports, forecasts, and pipeline updates for executive leadership and stakeholders, providing insights into sales performance and trends.
  • Collaboration and Communication: Collaborate closely with internal departments, including marketing, product management, operations, and customer service, to ensure alignment of sales initiatives with broader business objectives.

  • Talent Management: Attract, develop, and retain top talent within the organization, fostering a culture of employee engagement, development, and empowerment.
  • Communication: Communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders, including senior leadership, employees, customers, partners, and shareholders, to convey organizational vision, priorities, and progress.
  • Collaboration: Collaborate with other executives, departments, and external partners to facilitate cross-functional teamwork and alignment toward common goals.
  • Risk Management: Identify potential risks and opportunities facing the organization, develop risk mitigation strategies, and ensure compliance with relevant regulations and industry standards.
  • Innovation and Change Management: Foster a culture of innovation and continuous improvement, championing new ideas, technologies, and processes to drive organizational agility and competitiveness.
