Job Summary:
We are seeking an experienced Litigation Legal Assistant to support our legal team in all phases of litigation. The ideal candidate will have at least 3 years of experience in litigation support, strong organizational skills, and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced legal environment. This role involves assisting attorneys with case management, legal documentation, and courtroom preparation.
Key Responsibilities:
Case Management:
- Manage and maintain case files, including organizing pleadings, discovery, and other legal documents.
- Track deadlines and ensure timely filing of court documents.
- Coordinate with attorneys and clients regarding case status and progress.
Document Preparation:
- Draft and proofread legal documents such as pleadings, motions, subpoenas, discovery responses, and correspondence.
- Assist in preparing and organizing exhibits for depositions and trial presentations.
- File court documents electronically (e-filing) in state and federal courts.
Litigation Support:
- Assist with discovery requests and responses, including document production, review, and indexing.
- Conduct legal research and gather relevant case law, statutes, and other legal references.
- Prepare trial binders, witness lists, and case summaries.
- Coordinate witness interviews and assist in preparing for depositions and hearings.
Client Communication:
- Act as a point of contact for clients, providing updates and gathering necessary information.
- Maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive legal information with discretion.
Administrative Duties:
- Schedule meetings, depositions, hearings, and trials.
- Manage attorney calendars and track important deadlines.
- Process billing and expense reports related to legal activities.
Qualifications:
- Minimum 3 years of experience as a Litigation Legal Assistant or similar role.
- Proficient in legal research, case management, and document filing processes.
- Strong knowledge of court procedures, e-filing systems, and legal terminology.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to handle multiple tasks with high accuracy and meet tight deadlines.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook) and legal software (e.g., Clio, PracticePanther, or similar).
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in both state and federal court filings.
- Paralegal certification or an associate degree in paralegal studies.
- Familiarity with litigation technology and case management tools.
