Job Title: HVAC Estimator

Overview

We seek a skilled and detail-oriented HVAC Estimator to join a reputable team in the commercial mechanical construction sector. As an HVAC Estimator, you will be responsible for accurately assessing the costs and specifications of HVAC systems for commercial projects. You'll work closely with project managers, clients, and subcontractors to ensure each project is delivered within budget and to the highest standards. Key Responsibilities

• Prepare accurate and competitive cost estimates for HVAC systems, including labor, materials, and equipment. Review project specifications, blueprints, and drawings to determine scope and develop detailed bids.
• Work alongside project managers and engineering teams to ensure estimates align with project timelines and objectives. Coordinate with subcontractors, suppliers, and internal teams to gather pricing and ensure timely delivery of estimates.
• Communicate directly with clients to discuss project needs, address concerns, and provide timely updates. Build and maintain positive relationships, ensuring customer satisfaction throughout the estimating process.
• Develop detailed proposals and contracts based on customer specifications, clearly explaining costs and project timelines. Ensure proposals are submitted accurately and on time.
• Propose alternative solutions or system designs that may reduce costs or improve performance while maintaining the quality and functionality of HVAC systems.
• To ensure bid competitiveness, stay current with market trends, equipment pricing, and industry standards. Regularly evaluate supplier and subcontractor performance to ensure cost-effective, reliable solutions.
• Maintain thorough estimates, proposals, and project documentation records. Track bid status, follow up with clients, and provide regular updates to senior leadership.

Qualifications

• A high school diploma is required; an associate's or bachelor's degree in a relevant field is preferred.
• Minimum of 3 years of experience as an HVAC Estimator or in a similar role within the mechanical construction industry.
• Strong understanding of HVAC systems, including installation, operation, and maintenance. Proficient in estimating software and Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook).
• Ability to interpret complex blueprints and technical specifications to estimate project costs accurately.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to present estimates and proposals clearly to clients and team members.
• Strong time management skills with the ability to handle multiple estimates and projects simultaneously, ensuring deadlines are met.
• Ability to identify issues or discrepancies in project designs and offer practical, cost-effective solutions.
• A local and stable work history is preferred, demonstrating a solid background in HVAC and estimating within the Dayton area.
