Our client, a famous apparel brand, is seeking an Associate Sweater Designer skilled with PLM to join the team in New York! This is a temporary contract role set to last 3-4 months with potential to extend. Hours are full-time.
Pay is DOE - client is open to assistant level candidates.
Responsibilities:
- Understand Design Director's vision and support a senior designer to achieve cohesive line building
- Responsible for creative and technical development of sweaters and cold weather accessories within merchandise assortment strategy
- Create detailed and accurate flat sketches and CADs at fast pace in Adobe Illustrator by using brush and fill skillfully
- Research seasonal trends, themes, color, raw materials, and styling
- Collaborate with Merchandising, Production, and Technical Design to achieve product execution and maintain design integrity.
- Create tech packs in PLM for first protos, including accurate BOMs, measurements and sweater construction details, following directions from a designer
- Keep record of development of yarns and trims with sourcing partners
- Manage color development in PLM
- Develop artwork for stripes, jacquard, intersia, fairisle, embroidery, embellishment etc. in Illustrator or Photoshop
- Approval of lab dips and fabric/yarn submits for cold weather accessories
- Attend fittings to take accurate notes
Qualifications
- Solid understanding and working knowledge of yarn, gauge, constructions of sweaters (requirement only for associate designer level)
- Detail oriented, good follow through
- Highly proficient in Illustrator, Photoshop, Power Point, Microsoft Word, and Excel
- Proficiency in PLM system (FlexPLM experience is plus)
- Proven ability to research and apply market/fashion trend information into brand right design
- Team player and take on creative and mundane tasks with positive attitude
- Demonstrated ability to work independently with minimal supervision
- Strong organizational, communication, and written skills
- Strong presentation skills
- Ability to conduct color/pattern research
- Knowledge of seasonal silhouette and color trends
