This position is responsible for organizing, coordinating, and maintaining Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) activities, including training and compliance for our operations. Reporting to the Safety Director, the Safety Manager leads in developing, implementing, and managing top-notch safety programs, ensuring our team not only meets but exceeds State and Federal OSHA regulations. Key Responsibilities
- Safety Program Development: Design and manage comprehensive safety programs tailored to the construction industry, ensuring alignment with legal regulations and company standards.
- Job Site Audits: Conduct regular safety inspections and audits to assess risk and ensure compliance with safety standards.
- Training and Development: Organize and lead safety training sessions for employees and subcontractors, promoting continuous improvement in safety practices.
- Policy Management: Maintain and update the company’s policies and Safety Manual, ensuring all safety equipment and protective gear are available and in proper working condition.
- Regulatory Compliance: Ensure adherence to OSHA, DOT, and EPA regulations, submitting safety reports to relevant agencies as required.
- Incident Investigation: Investigate accidents and incidents to identify root causes, implementing corrective actions to prevent future occurrences.
- Risk Management: Identify potential hazards on construction sites, develop strategies to mitigate risks, and manage the workers' compensation program.
- Safety Culture Promotion: Foster a culture of safety awareness and continuous improvement, ensuring effective communication of safety protocols to all team members.
Qualifications
- Education : High School Diploma or equivalent required; Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Safety Management, Construction Management, or a related field preferred.
- Certifications : Certified Safety Professional (CSP) or Certified Utility Safety Professional (CUSP) certification required.
- Experience : Minimum of 5 years in construction safety management, with a proven track record of effective safety programs; experience working with unions is advantageous.
- Skills : Strong knowledge of OSHA, DOT, and EPA regulations; excellent communication, problem-solving, and time management skills; proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite; bilingual proficiency in Spanish is a plus.
