Job Title: Electrical Engineer
Duration Direct, Full Time
Location: Salt Lake City, UT (Onsite Monday - Friday)
Salary Range: $85,000 - $118,000 DOE W2
Primary Job Duties and Responsibilities (Essential Job Function)
This position is for a mid to senior level electrical engineer. This position requires:
- Experience with electrical and instrumentation designs at meter and compressor stations.
- Ability to perform electrical system and battery load studies, motor control center evaluations, and ground fault analysis.
- Experience with natural gas pipeline facilities such as compressor stations, meter stations, and automated mainline valves.
- Experience with PLCs, controllers, VFDs, motors, pumps, and generators.
Technical Services
Electrical engineer provide technical input to engineering and operations to support the development, operation and maintenance of electrical equipment at natural gas pipeline facilities. Typical duties include: performs optimization, troubleshooting and feasibility studies; assists with facility and ancillary equipment additions, upgrades, replacements and repairs. Leads and manages electrical projects and operational initiatives on schedule, within budget and in a safe and environmentally-sound manner.
Typical Duties
Provides technical support for certain phases of a project including schedules, designs, estimates, engineering specifications, policies and procedures, drawings, materials procurement, contracts, cost tracking, scopes of work and project cost projections. Coordinates the development of goals and work plans, defines responsibilities and assigns resources, then monitors work performance with respect to project and business objectives. Coordinates the work of internal/external resources to ensure that quality and quantity of work are met.
Conducts or contributes to engineering studies and investigations. Communicates results in oral and written reports. Assists in the development, revision and implementation of company standards and specifications, policies and procedures.
Provides system optimization recommendations, general troubleshooting of existing facilities and feasibility studies to enhance the system.
Researches and analyzes data such as customer design proposals, specifications, codes and regulations, and manuals to determine feasibility of design, fitness for service and/or appropriate application. Verifies that work products conform to applicable codes, standards, specifications and requirements of internal/external business partners.
May participate in emergency response during any pipeline emergency to provide technical expertise in area of proficiency and ensure effective business resumption.
Provides engineering assistance to other departments and performs any additional tasks as requested or assigned.
This job does require the electrical engineer to provide on-call support to field technicians outside of normal working hours.
Qualifications
This is a multi-level job posting.
Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering from an accredited institution.
The Engineer II position requires a bachelor's degree in engineering from an accredited institution and at least three years of direct experience. Being an engineer-in-training (EIT)/fundamentals of engineering (FE) is recommended.
The Sr. Engineer I position requires a bachelor's degree in engineering and engineer-in-training (EIT)/fundamentals of engineering (FE) and six to eight years of experience as a practicing engineer in related engineering applications or other related industry experience. If not an engineer-in-training (EIT)/fundamentals of engineering (FE), must have 8 years as a practicing engineer.
The Sr. Engineer II requires a bachelor's degree engineering from an accredited institution. Eight or more years of experience as a practicing engineer in related engineering applications or other related industry experience and a PE license. If no PE license, must have at least 10 years as a practicing engineer and an engineer-in-training (EIT)/fundamentals of engineering (FE).

Ability to prioritize and handle multiple tasks and/or projects concurrently.
Familiarity with analytical software techniques and proficiency with desktop programs (Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Word, and Microsoft Outlook).
Valid driver's license and ability to travel to remote locations, including out-of-area travel. After-hours work as needed and routine on-call rotations may also apply.
