DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Creating tailored plans : Special education teachers collaborate with parents, administrators, and other professionals to develop and implement an IEP that outlines the academic and behavioral goals for each student.
• Adapt lessons : They adapt and modify curricula, materials, and teaching strategies to meet the specific needs of students.
• Behavioral interventions : Developing and implementing behavior intervention plans (BIPs) for students with behavioral challenges.
• Crisis intervention : Responding to emotional and behavioral crises, ensuring a safe and supportive environment for students.
• Ensuring rights : Advocating for the rights and needs of students with disabilities, including ensuring compliance with federal and state regulations.
• Ongoing learning : Continuously improving knowledge of special education laws, best practices, and new strategies to support diverse learners.
• Collaboration with peers : Attending workshops and conferences to stay up to date on the latest trends and research in the field.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Must hold a valid Special Education Teaching License in Michigan
• Must have at least 1 year SPED Teacher experience
