Do you have experience managing financial matters in a non-profit? We're looking for a Finance Controller to bring onboard for one of our not-for-profit clients. This is a 20-month contract opportunity performed in Ottawa , on-site on a full-time basis. As a successful hire, you'd be responsible for overseeing financial matters and supporting organizational compliance.


Salary range: $95,000-$113,000


About you

To succeed in this role, you will need:

  • 5+ years of experience in accounting, budgeting, and analysis —ideally in a not-for-profit
  • CPA designation required
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Commerce, or related
  • Proven expertise in financial analysis, forecasting, and team management
  • Advanced skills in MS Excel and Sage 300
  • Bilingualism in English and French is an asset


About the role

If hired, you will:

  • Oversee budgeting, accounting, and compliance with GAAP
  • Prepare financial reports for programs, projects, and the Charitable Foundation
  • Manage treasury functions, reconciliations, and financial corrections
  • Design systems for audits and maintain internal controls
  • Lead external audits and ensure submission of required finance reports
  • Support managers in budget planning, control, and performance tracking
  • Oversee Finance staff, set standards, and promote training opportunities
  • Develop policies and goals for reporting, controls, and efficiencies
  • Guide system improvements, project implementation, and operations
  • Act as an alternate signing authority when required
