About you
To succeed in this role, you'll need:
- 1+ years of experience as a Law Clerk, with a focus on insurance defense litigation
- A Law Clerk college diploma
- Strong knowledge of the Rules of Civil Procedure
- Familiarity with Supreme Court of Canada procedures, including the Supreme Court of Canada Act and the Rules of the Supreme Court of Canada
- Knowledge of the Guidelines for Preparing Documents to be Filed with the Supreme Court of Canada is an asset
About the role
If hired, you will:
- Manage legal files, correspondence, and deadlines for liability and tort law cases
- Support lawyers in negligence, product liability, motor vehicle accident litigation, slip and falls, and other tort liability cases
- Draft pleadings, motions, mediation briefs, and pre-trial briefs
- Coordinate case discovery and document production with summaries and chronologies
- Prepare trial materials and liaise with lawyers, clients, and opposing counsel
- Collaborate with the legal team, ensuring accuracy and efficiency in all tasks
