We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Benefits Analyst to join our human resources team in Columbia or Kansas City, Missouri. The Benefits Analyst will be responsible for managing and administering the company's employee benefit programs.
Responsibilities
- Assists the Benefits Director in administration and evaluation of various enterprise benefit programs, such as group health, dental, vision, flexible spending accounts, life insurance, voluntary programs and wellness benefits.
- Prepares and implements open enrollment, including communications, training, implementation, processing and finalization. Assists with renewal process, providing brokers and carriers requested information and attending presentations.
- Evaluates and maintains the benefits administration module of Workday, including set up, case requests, testing, implementation and day to day utilization.
- Ensures all regulatory compliance requirements are met timely and implements any needed internal processes to ensure deadlines are met. Includes items such as 5500 filings, ACA, and other notification processes.
- Monitors the leave of absence program for Emery Sapp, ensuring consistency across all company divisions and compliance with appropriate state and federal regulations (in conjunction with the Benefits Director). Makes recommendations for modifications to the program to ensure best in class procedures within the industry.
- Research and resolve second level administrative issues with the carrier representatives and broker as appropriate. Provides support to employee-owners with advanced benefit related questions or issues, responding promptly and professionally to emails and phone calls.
- Assists the Benefits Director and Accounting Manager with enterprise retirement plan (401k and ESOP) inquiries and administration, including employee-owner education, census and audit requests, plan document review, record keeping systems and partnering with brokers to provide best in class offerings.
- Assists employee-owners with transition of benefits upon termination, death, or other separation from the company.
- Works on various projects related to benefits as assigned, including but not limited to software implementation, potential acquisitions and/or implementation of new benefit programs.
Qualifications
- Knowledge of labor law (specifically FMLA) and benefits, met by 3-5 years of professional work experience in Human Resources using an HRIS for payroll and HR functions.
- PHR or SHRM-CP preferred.
- Proficient with computers, specifically Microsoft Office Suite and Google
- Must be able to multi-task, be detail-oriented, organized, and analytical
- Strong verbal, math, and written communication skills
- Ability to create strong working relationships with internal partners (payroll, finance, HR) as well as external partners, collaborating to create best in class practices and offerings.
- Ability to adapt and interact well in a variety of diverse settings while being flexible in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to travel to various company locations as needed.
