The Employer : Engineering Advisory Consultancy Services Firm - Renewable Project Development

Location : Houston, Texas

Reports To : Chief Executive Officer (CEO)

Position Overview :

The Employer is seeking a seasoned Director of Business Development to lead strategic growth initiatives and expand the company’s presence within the renewable energy and sustainable infrastructure markets. The ideal candidate will possess deep expertise in renewable energy project development, a robust network in the industry, and proven success in identifying, securing, and managing client relationships. This individual will work closely with the executive leadership team to drive revenue growth and further position The Employer as a leader in sustainable infrastructure development.


Key Responsibilities:


1. Strategic Business Development :

• Identify and pursue new business opportunities within renewable energy markets, including solar, wind, energy storage, clean-fuels and other decarbonization-focused sectors.

• Develop and execute a business development strategy aligned with the company’s growth objectives.

2. Client Acquisition and Relationship Management :

• Cultivate strong relationships with project developers, private equity firms, and other key stakeholders in the renewable energy sector.

• Serve as a trusted advisor to clients, understanding their needs and aligning The Employer’s service offerings to meet their goals.

3. Market Analysis and Growth :

• Conduct market research to identify emerging trends, opportunities, and competitive dynamics in the renewable energy industry.

• Develop strategic partnerships to enhance the company’s service portfolio and expand market reach.

4. Proposal Development :

• Oversee the preparation of compelling proposals, presentations, and pitches to secure new business.

• Collaborate with technical teams to develop tailored solutions that meet client needs.

5. Team Collaboration :

• Work cross-functionally with engineering, project management, and executive teams to ensure client satisfaction and successful project delivery.

• Provide input on project execution strategies based on client requirements and market insights.

6. Revenue Growth :

• Achieve or exceed revenue and profit targets by securing new contracts and driving repeat business.

• Build and manage a pipeline of opportunities, ensuring consistent deal flow and long-term partnerships.


Required Qualifications:


Experience : 10+ years of experience in business development, renewable energy project development, or a related field.

Expertise : Strong knowledge of renewable energy project development, including project financing, permitting, and execution. Extensive capability taking a project development from Pe-FEED to FEED.

Network : Established relationships with project developers, utilities, private equity firms, and industry stakeholders.

Skills : Exceptional communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills; ability to lead complex deals and deliver results.

Education : Bachelor’s degree in business, engineering, or a related field (MBA or advanced degree preferred).


Preferred Qualifications:


• Experience working with private equity-backed organizations or engineering consultancies.

• Proven track record in securing contracts for consulting services or engineering solutions in renewable energy markets.

• Familiarity with emerging technologies in carbon capture, hydrogen, or circular economy sectors.
