Regional People Leader

Location: Chicago, IL (50% travel required)

Reports to: Senior Director of People

Job Description:

LHH is seeking a dynamic and experienced Regional People Leader to join our client's team. This role involves working with assigned senior operations teams to ensure the proper execution of all people-processes at designated airports. The Regional People Leader will be the primary liaison for all union-related activity across all locations and will monitor and update employment/wage & hour laws and mandates for all territories in the assigned region. The successful candidate will provide full HR support in areas such as employee relations, recruitment/staffing, compensation, employment law/compliance, benefits, organizational effectiveness, talent management, and training and development. Additionally, the role involves developing and delivering effective internal staff communications, investigating and resolving complex employee complaints and issues, and ensuring the execution of grievance and disciplinary policies and procedures.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Work with assigned senior operations teams to ensure proper execution of all people-processes.
  • Serve as the primary liaison for all union-related activity.
  • Monitor and update employment/wage & hour laws and mandates for all territories in the assigned region.
  • Provide full HR support in areas such as employee relations, recruitment/staffing, compensation, employment law/compliance, benefits, organizational effectiveness, talent management, and training and development.
  • Develop and deliver effective internal staff communications.
  • Investigate and resolve complex employee complaints and issues.
  • Ensure execution of grievance and disciplinary policies and procedures.
  • Coach employees and managers on performance management.
  • Identify staffing needs and participate in the interview and selection process.
  • Drive the hourly recruitment and orientation/training processes.
  • Create, review, and revise the location's succession plan.
  • Partner with internal and/or external legal counsel to prepare for and/or respond to lawsuits or complaints.
  • Maintain professional quality data integrity, recordkeeping, and operating procedures.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in HR or related field.
  • 6+ years of HR Business Partner experience, preferably in hospitality, food service, or airport industry.
  • Must have union experience, including grievances, mediations, arbitrations, and other union-related activities.
  • Proficiency in US labor and employment laws.
  • Strong communication skills (written and verbal).
  • Ability to work independently and among cross-functional teams.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Ability to travel ~50% within the US.
