General Overview:
The Bread Baker oversees the preparation of high-quality, artisanal breads, ensuring consistency, quality, and compliance with food safety standards. This role involves managing the entire production process, maintaining recipes, and collaborating with the kitchen team.
General Duties & Responsibilities
Bread Production :
- Prepare and bake a variety of breads. Mix, knead, shape, proof, and bake dough according to recipes and production standards.
- Monitor the baking process and adjust oven settings to achieve consistent quality.
Recipe Management :
- Follow standardized recipes to ensure consistency in product quality.
- Innovate and experiment with new bread recipes and techniques as needed.
Quality Control :
- Inspect raw ingredients for freshness and quality.
- Ensure bread meets presentation and taste standards before serving or packaging.
Inventory and Supply Management :
- Maintain an inventory of baking ingredients and supplies.
- Coordinate with the purchasing team to ensure timely replenishment of stock.
Equipment Maintenance :
- Operate and maintain baking equipment, such as mixers, proofers, and ovens.
- Perform regular cleaning and maintenance of tools and workstations to meet sanitation standards.
Team Collaboration :
- Work closely with the kitchen team to coordinate production schedules and delivery deadlines.
- Train and mentor junior team members or assistants, if applicable.
Compliance :
- Adhere to health and safety regulations in food preparation and handling.
- Maintain a clean and organized workspace in compliance with hygiene standards.
Administrative Tasks :
- Record daily production logs and waste reports.
- Assist with customer or team inquiries regarding bread-making techniques or products.
Qualifications - Proven experience as a Bread Baker or in a similar role.
- Strong knowledge of baking techniques and bread-making processes.
- Familiarity with operating and maintaining baking equipment.
- Ability to follow standardized recipes and ensure product consistency.
- Physical stamina and strength, including the ability to lift at least 50 pounds regularly.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Flexibility to work early mornings, weekends, and holidays.
- Excellent teamwork and communication skills.
- Commitment to maintaining a clean and safe work environment.
