Plan, direct, and support manufacturing processes in a CNC machining environment. Research and resolve production problems, establish, and implement standard requirements for equipment, tooling, and methods. Determine best utilization of equipment, material, and personnel.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Provide engineering support to business/production unit
- Develop, evaluate, design and improve manufacturing methods, materials and tooling
- Analyze, plan, and design layout of equipment and workspace for maximum efficiency
- Confer with planning and design staff concerning product design and tooling to ensure efficient production methods
- Quote internal and external business opportunities
- Confer with vendors to determine product specifications and arrange for purchase of equipment, materials, or parts
- Estimate production times and related costs to provide information for management decisions
- Confer with management, engineering, and other staff regarding manufacturing capabilities, production schedules, and other considerations to facilitate production processes
- Apply statistical methods to evaluate and improve process capability and estimate future manufacturing requirements and potential
COMPETENCIES NECESSARY FOR SUCCESS:
- Knowledge of CNC machine tools, programming, controls, and capabilities
- Knowledge of cutting tools, work-holding, and fixturing methods
