Reliability and Maintenance Manager
As a Reliability and Maintenance Manager, you will play a pivotal role in developing and implementing programs and processes critical to plant operations. This position offers an opportunity to utilize both management expertise and technical leadership across multiple facilities. Your ability to lead and develop teams while driving alignment with strategic goals will be key to achieving success. You’ll collaborate with various teams to ensure seamless plant operations and the successful execution of all projects.
Position Responsibilities:
- Drive world-class reliability and maintenance practices while fostering a culture of continuous improvement.
- Uphold the highest safety, security, health, and environmental standards while ensuring compliance with regional asset integrity regulations.
- Lead teams of electricians, millwrights, and technicians to deliver safe, cost-effective reactive, preventive, and predictive maintenance programs.
- Partner with Maintenance Supervisors to optimize equipment and manpower utilization, ensuring effective support for manufacturing operations.
- Provide hands-on support for troubleshooting equipment breakdowns, resolving production delays, and addressing quality issues.
- Manage Maintenance Planning Execution (MPE) processes, including budgeting, reviewing performance metrics, and implementing action plans for improvement.
- Analyze equipment performance to identify downtime sources, prioritize maintenance resources, and address root causes of performance issues.
- Lead or participate in continuous improvement initiatives and integrate sustainable changes into Preventative Maintenance procedures.
- Oversee personnel management, including recruitment, hiring, training, performance evaluations, and succession planning.
- Manage external contractors and trades personnel for project execution.
- Evaluate and onboard new suppliers and technologies to enhance maintenance, production, safety, and quality standards.
- Monitor KPIs, conduct safety inspections, host staff meetings, and manage incident investigations.
- Develop and maintain a Risk Management Plan addressing potential risks to plant operations.
- Engineer solutions for repetitive failures and operational challenges, applying methodologies like Six Sigma, Root Cause Analysis, and Reliability Centered Maintenance.
- Maintain compliance with documentation standards, including WHMIS regulations, and manage all relevant technical records and drawings.
- Set clear expectations, ensure follow-through, and validate results.
Skills & Requirements:
- Certified Millwright, Engineer, Electrician, or Technician, or a relevant academic degree.
- At least 5 years of experience in a Reliability and/or Maintenance Manager role.
- A minimum of 10 years of combined experience in Maintenance/Operations, Project Management, and Reliability Engineering.
- Expertise in predictive maintenance technologies, Root Cause Failure Analysis, and Reliability Centered Maintenance.
- Strong understanding of budgeting and project management processes.
- A Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) designation is an asset.
- Exceptional problem-solving, initiative, and project management abilities.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to lead and facilitate effectively.
