PRIMARY PURPOSE:

Formulated Solutions is looking for a Director of Operations who will play a critical role in overseeing and managing all packaging operational aspects of our facility, ensuring the efficient and cost-effective production of our customers’ products. Reporting directly to the GM, VP, this position is responsible for the development, implementation, and optimization of operational strategies and processes. The Director of Operations will lead a team of department heads across production to deliver operational excellence while meeting the needs of our customers and aligning with the company’s growth objectives. This role requires a deep understanding of manufacturing best practices, process optimization, and managing operations in a fast-paced, PE-backed environment.


MAJOR DUTIESAND RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Operational Leadership and Strategy

Lead the day-to-day operations of packaging, ensuring timely production and delivery of customer products.

Collaborate with executive leadership to define and execute operational strategies that align with the company’s growth targets.

Develop and implement long-term plans to improve efficiency, reduce costs, and increase profitability while maintaining the highest quality standards.

Communicate, Model, and Reinforce Company Values.


2. Team Management and Development

Direct and mentor department managers across production, fostering a high-performance culture.

Drive talent development initiatives, ensuring a skilled and motivated workforce, and implementing continuous improvement programs.

Establish clear performance metrics and conduct regular reviews to ensure alignment with operational goals.


3. Operational Performance and Continuous Improvement

Identify and implement process improvements across all stages of manufacturing, from raw material procurement to product shipment.

Use data-driven decision-making to monitor operational KPIs, such as production efficiency, downtime, quality assurance, and on-time delivery.

Lead initiatives to optimize manufacturing workflows, equipment utilization, and inventory management.

Use Lead Manufacturing Principals to drive improvement.


4. Quality and Compliance Management

Ensure that all products meet or exceed regulatory requirements, quality standards, and client specifications.

Work closely with the Quality Assurance team to maintain certifications (e.g., GMP, ISO), and drive compliance across all operations.

Address any quality issues in a timely and efficient manner, implementing corrective actions when necessary.


5. Budget and Financial Management

Oversee the operational budget, managing costs related to labor, materials, and overhead.

Drive cost-saving initiatives without compromising product quality or customer satisfaction.

Ensure accurate and timely forecasting, reporting, and variance analysis to the executive team.


6. Supply Chain and Logistics Management

Collaborate with Supply Chain and Logistics teams to ensure a steady flow of raw materials, timely production, and efficient distribution.

Collaborate with Human Resources to ensure we have the right labor at the right time to meet business demands.


7. Change Management

Lead operational initiatives and change management processes to align with the growth strategies and expectations of the Private Equity owners.

Work with leadership to implement strategic initiatives that drive value creation and operational efficiencies.


QUALIFICATIONS:

Education and Experience:

Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Engineering, Supply Chain, Operations Management, or a related field.

Minimum of 10 years of operational leadership experience in a manufacturing environment, with at least 5 years in a senior leadership or Director-level role.

Proven experience in contract manufacturing, ideally in the health, beauty, or consumer goods industries.

Experience in working with Private Equity-backed companies or navigating the unique challenges and opportunities of a PE-owned organization is highly desirable.


Skills and Competencies:

Strong leadership skills with a proven track record of managing cross-functional teams to achieve operational excellence.

In-depth knowledge of manufacturing processes, lean principles, and continuous improvement methodologies (Six Sigma, Kaizen, etc.).

Expertise in budgeting, financial management, and performance metrics.

Exceptional problem-solving skills with the ability to make data-driven decisions under pressure.

Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to interact effectively with all levels of the organization and external stakeholders.

Strong project management skills with the ability to prioritize and manage multiple initiatives simultaneously.


Certifications:

Lean Manufacturing or Six Sigma certifications are a plus.

Relevant certifications in Quality Management Systems (e.g., ISO, GMP) preferred.
