Job Description:
We’re looking for a Freelance Sock Designer to lead the design, development and execution of new design concepts for all sock collections. This role will be responsible for shaping and implementing the overall vision and direction for all seasonal sock assortments while developing new creative ideas and innovative strategies to advance the business forward.
This position requires a blend of excellent creative, organizational, and technical skills in addition to experience working with cross-functional product teams.
What You’ll Do
- Lead the design and development of socks from concept to launch according to the overall product roadmap and merchandise plans
- Create Illustrator sketches, CADs and line sheets for all seasonal sock concepts
- Create seasonal trend presentations / mood boards incorporating sales data, consumer insights, customer feedback, competitive analysis and cultural trends
- Work with cross-functional team and vendors to hit deadlines and deliver quality product
- Collaborate with Product Development to explore new techniques that elevate overall aesthetic and/or improve product quality and function
- Own pantone color selection and strike off approval process, ensuring pattern/color execution aligns with approved CAD drawings
- Manage seasonal color development and lab dip approval for all socks
- Maintain and demonstrate constant understanding of the competitive environment
- Conduct trend and market research to identify relevant trends within the sock category
What You Have
- 5+ years of experience in sock design and innovation
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and juggle multiple seasons at one time
- High Proficiency in Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop + InDesign, Microsoft applications, and other CAD/Textile Design software
- Strong knowledge of fabric construction & apparel dyeing/printing methods
- Highly organized and detail-oriented
- Highly-developed taste level and excellent color sense
- Ability to prioritize, multi-task, and adapt to change
- Excellent presentation & communication skills
- Demonstrate a passion for the brand
- Highly resilient and solution-oriented
- Ability to work in a collaborative team environment and communicate cross-functionally with all levels of the organization
- Bachelor’s degree in design or related field
