Job Summary: The Host at Ostras is responsible for providing a warm and welcoming first impression to all guests. This role involves managing reservations, seating guests, and coordinating the flow of guests in the dining area. The Host plays a crucial role in ensuring a smooth and enjoyable dining experience.
Key Responsibilities:
- Guest Reception:
- Greet guests promptly and courteously as they enter the restaurant.
- Manage reservations and walk-ins, ensuring accurate wait times and efficient seating.
- Escort guests to their tables and provide menus.
- Reservation Management:
- Utilize the reservation system to manage bookings and optimize table assignments.
- Confirm reservations and handle special requests or dietary needs.
- Communicate reservation details and guest preferences to the FOH team.
- Seating Coordination:
- Coordinate with the FOH Manager and servers to manage table assignments and rotation.
- Monitor dining room activity to ensure efficient seating and service flow.
- Maintain a waitlist during busy periods and keep guests informed of their status.
- Customer Service:
- Provide exceptional customer service, addressing guest inquiries and concerns.
- Assist guests with coat check, special accommodations, and other needs.
- Maintain a friendly and professional demeanor at all times.
- FOH Maintenance:
- Keep the entrance, host stand, and dining area clean and organized.
- Ensure that menus and promotional materials are current and well-presented.
- Assist with setting up and breaking down the dining room as needed.
- Communication:
- Communicate effectively with the FOH team and kitchen staff to ensure seamless service.
- Relay guest feedback and special requests to the appropriate staff members.
- Maintain open lines of communication with management regarding any issues or improvements.
Qualifications:
- Education:
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
- Experience:
- Previous experience as a host or in a customer service role in a fine dining establishment is preferred.
- Skills:
- Strong organizational and multitasking abilities.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to remain calm and professional under pressure.
- Familiarity with reservation systems and seating software is a plus.
- Ability to work flexible hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
