Position: Finance Manager
Location: Hybrid, Toronto
Job Type: 6-month contract (with strong potential for extension)
Are you a detail-oriented finance professional with leadership experience and a strong background in IFRS and internal controls? We are seeking a Finance Manager for a 6-month hybrid contract role in Toronto. This position offers an exciting opportunity to lead a dynamic finance team within a government setting and contribute to high-impact financial management projects.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead a team of four, overseeing revenue and payables processing, and ensuring robust financial controls.
- Manage the Internal Controls over Financial Reporting (ICFR) program, assessing sufficiency and effectiveness annually and reporting findings with actionable recommendations.
- Assist in the preparation of IFRS-compliant financial statements, including note disclosures and the Management Discussion and Analysis.
- Monitor and analyze new accounting standards, driving implementation and assessing impacts on financial statements.
- Collaborate on month-end, quarter-end, and year-end closing processes, while supporting day-to-day financial operations.
- Provide internal control guidance on finance-related projects and lead process improvements.
Qualifications:
- Undergraduate degree in Accounting or Finance.
- CPA designation, with preference for Chartered Accountant program.
- Minimum of 8 years of experience in accounting, auditing, or finance, including at least 5 years in public accounting with a focus on IFRS.
- Proven experience in managing financial teams, with strong people management and leadership skills.
