We are seeking a Consultant – Quality Program Lead to join our Technical Services and Engineering Team. This position will report to the Manager of Technical Services and will collaborate with offshore and onshore engineering and project management teams. The role will be based in Calgary, with regular travel to international locations, in addition to domestic.
This is a Multi- Year, Multi Billion Dollar Mega Project in excess of $4B.
Summary of Responsibilities:
- Quality Program Development: Lead the creation and oversee the implementation of the Quality Assurance Program.
- Portfolio Quality Reporting: Work with project teams in Calgary and overseas to provide quality portfolio updates to the Project Leadership Team.
- Team Leadership: Mentor, train, and support the Quality team, ensuring alignment with project objectives.
- Contractor Quality Assurance: Manage the execution of Quality Assurance Plans for multiple project areas, including marine terminals, transmission lines, and pipeline interconnections. Review third-party contractor quality plans.
- Onshore and Offshore Collaboration: Collaborate with the Offshore HSEQ Manager and onshore teams to address quality-related actions and reporting needs identified by the Project Leadership Team.
- Oversight / Audit Processes: Develop and manage processes for auditing project turnover to ensure compliance with applicable codes, regulations, and specifications. Audit third-party contractor non-conformance processes.
- Pre-Startup Safety Reviews (PSSR): Continuously improve the PSSR program to ensure timely completion of safety requirements for project startup and operations.
- Project Close-Out: Participate in the project close-out process to ensure all quality handover information is properly registered in the Information Management System.
- Competency Management: Oversee competency assessments, maintain training logs, and drive continuous improvement within the competency system.
Qualifications:
- 10 - 20+ years of direct, relevant experience (e.g., in design, fabrication, operations, maintenance, inspection, mechanical trades, or quality management).
- B.Sc. in Engineering with P.Eng. (APEGA) or Engineering Technology Diploma with P. Tech. (ASET) in Mechanical, Materials, Welding, or a related discipline preferred.
- Experience in developing, implementing, sustaining, and auditing Quality Programs.
- Exceptional communication, interpersonal, and team-building skills with the ability to function effectively in high-pressure, fast-paced environments.
- Ability to assess client needs (e.g., field operations, business units, service units) and provide tools and resources to meet those needs.
- Analytical and innovative skills to evaluate management systems, identify gaps, and develop actionable, risk-prioritized solutions.
- Thorough understanding of regulatory requirements (e.g., TSBC, BCER, NEB) and industry codes (e.g., API, CSA, ASME).
- Detailed knowledge of API (510/570) and Canadian Welding Bureau (CWB) standards.
- A proactive, can-do attitude to accommodate diverse duties and responsibilities within the role.
