Body-In-White Process Supervisor – Welding
Location: Windsor, ON
Position Overview
We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Body-In-White (BIW) Process Supervisor with expertise in welding to oversee the production of internal combustion engine (ICE) and electric vehicle (EV) bodies. The ideal candidate will ensure the seamless execution of welding processes, quality standards, and production goals while leading a team in a fast-paced, dynamic automotive manufacturing environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Supervision and Leadership :
- Manage and lead a team of welding operators and technicians in the BIW department.
- Provide guidance, training, and mentorship to team members to achieve operational excellence.
- Production Oversight :
- Oversee the welding processes for both ICE and EV body assemblies, ensuring production meets quality, safety, and delivery targets.
- Monitor and maintain production schedules to meet customer and business requirements.
- Welding Process Management :
- Ensure optimal performance of welding equipment, including robotic and manual welding systems.
- Troubleshoot and resolve welding process issues to minimize downtime and enhance productivity.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance welding quality, efficiency, and cost-effectiveness.
- Quality Assurance :
- Implement and maintain quality control processes to ensure welded assemblies meet company standards.
- Collaborate with Quality and Engineering teams to address non-conformance issues and implement corrective actions.
- Health, Safety, and Compliance :
- Enforce adherence to health and safety regulations within the BIW welding area.
- Promote a culture of safety and ensure compliance with company safety protocols and local regulations.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration :
- Work closely with Engineering, Maintenance, and Manufacturing teams to optimize welding processes for ICE and EV body structures.
- Participate in new product launches and support the integration of advanced welding technologies for EV production.
Qualifications
- Education :
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related field preferred. Equivalent work experience will be considered.
- Experience :
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in a BIW manufacturing environment with a strong focus on welding processes.
- Proven expertise in managing both robotic and manual welding systems.
- Experience in producing ICE and EV body structures is highly desirable.
- Skills :
- In-depth knowledge of welding processes (e.g., MIG, TIG, spot welding, laser welding).
- Familiarity with advanced robotics and automation systems.
- Strong leadership and team management skills.
- Ability to analyze and resolve process issues effectively and efficiently.
- Proficiency in manufacturing software and tools (e.g., PLCs, MES, CAD systems).
