Job Description

About the Role:

The BSD Specialist is responsible for coordinating with various teams to arrive at decisions requiring advanced knowledge. Analyze computer systems and provide solutions in conjunction with IT with minimal supervision. In alignment with management, the role involves formulating application system solutions to resolve issues and improve productivity/efficiencies in the region. Work with subject matter experts to build required automation, such as macros, robotic process automation (Blue Prism), Power Automate, and other tools to streamline processes and improve efficiency. This includes ad-hoc one-time solutions as well as full-scale process automation. Collaborate with management and coordinators to ensure automation solutions have a definitive lifecycle or end date, either through system enhancements or broader process improvements.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead the design, development, documentation, analysis, creation, testing, and maintenance of automation programs and implement automated tasks/processes with minimal supervision.
  • Develop and maintain high-value macros using MS Office/Excel.
  • Create and maintain automation tools, including RPA and Power Automate.
  • Supervise employees within the Business Systems team during the manager's absence.
  • Handle data transformation tasks, such as transforming reports into Excel for analysis.
  • Liaise with team members to gather process improvement requirements.
  • Document and create SOPs, user instructions, and manuals.
  • Guide staff in handling complex problems and resolving escalated complaints or disputes.
  • Manage support tickets via JIRA for all automation-related systems.
  • Serve as the point of contact for system updates within the team's responsibility.
  • Update and test improvements to software.
  • Provide updates and training to users on new systems or enhancements.
  • Ensure consistent application of policies in personnel actions.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree with at least 3 years of Business Systems experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Maritime experience preferred.
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills.
  • Expert in VBA, with a focus on Excel, Outlook, and Access-based macros.
  • Knowledge of Automation, Python, and Power Tools is an added advantage.
  • Ability to collaborate with teams to identify business needs and achieve project goals.
  • Proficient in understanding software interfaces and applying this knowledge in development and support tasks.
  • Skilled in training users on systems or enhancements.
  • Proficient in MS Office (e.g., Teams, Excel, PowerPoint) and other relevant software.

Working Conditions:

  • Regularly required to sit, talk, and hear while performing job duties.
  • Frequent use of hands and fingers, including using a personal computer.
  • Close vision required.
  • May experience mental stress due to deadlines.
  • Occasionally lift up to 15 pounds.
