Job title: Senior Controls Engineer

Location: Holland, MI/Locust Grove, GA

Duration: Contract


Travel Requirements: Travel to Locust Grove, GA, required only after June 2025. Travel expenses and per diem will be fully covered.


Position Overview:

A highly skilled and motivated Senior Controls Engineer is sought for an exciting and dynamic opportunity. This role is based in Holland, MI, through June 2025, with installation and production support continuing in Locust Grove, GA, through December 2025. The ideal candidate will possess exceptional technical expertise, leadership capabilities, and a proactive approach to problem-solving in dynamic, high-pressure environments.


Key Responsibilities:

• Controls Development and Design:

o Develop and design control software packages utilizing Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC) and Human/Machine Interfaces (HMI).

o Program robotic systems (including Fanuc Robots) and controls equipment per customer specifications.

o Ensure that all controls and robotic systems meet or exceed customer and project requirements.

• Installation and Commissioning:

o Oversee the startup and commissioning of equipment to ensure compliance with approved specifications.

o Conduct preventative maintenance to optimize machine performance and minimize downtime.

o Provide technical support and training to end users at customer facilities.

• Documentation and Communication:

o Develop comprehensive operation manuals detailing equipment functionality and setup.

o Maintain open communication with customers and project teams to provide regular updates and track open issues.

o Deliver timely and accurate service documentation for all performed functions.

• Team Collaboration and Knowledge Transfer:

o Work effectively within a large team and actively contribute to the transfer of knowledge and best practices.

o Provide guidance and mentorship to other team members to support their development.

• Project Ownership:

o Demonstrate strong ownership of assigned tasks and ensure their successful completion within set deadlines.

o Identify, track, and resolve issues, maintaining a focus on continuous improvement.


Qualifications:

• Proven experience with Allen Bradley systems and Fanuc Robots is required.

• Proficiency in FactoryTalk View; experience with FTView SE is a significant advantage.

• Intermediate knowledge of:

o Electrical circuits and panel design

o Pneumatic and hydraulic systems

o VFDs (Variable Frequency Drives) and servo applications

o Device communication networks (e.g., DNET, ENET, Profibus)

• Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office and Google Workspace applications.


Skills and Attributes:

• Exceptional communication skills with the ability to provide clear updates to customers and project teams.

• Strong critical thinking and problem-solving abilities.

• Demonstrated ability to work under high-pressure situations while maintaining professionalism.

• A commitment to safety and adherence to established protocols at all work locations.

• Willingness to work extended hours as needed:

o 40-55 hours/week initially, increasing to 60-65 hours/week as projects progress.

o During installation phases in GA, work schedules may reach 65-70 hours/week, with all hours beyond 40 paid as overtime.


Additional Travel Details:

• Travel to Locust Grove, GA, will be required only after June 2025.

• All travel expenses and per diem will be fully covered during the stay in Georgia.


Education and Experience:

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or a related field is preferred.

• Minimum of 5 years of experience in controls engineering or a related discipline.
