Title: Controller


Reports To: Executive Vice President & COO


Summary: Directs and has immediate responsibility for the Company’s accounting practices, the maintenance of fiscal records, and the preparation of its financial and tax reports. Directs and has supervisory responsibility for general ledger accounting, budgetary controls for the Company, and the credit and collection function. Responsible for appraising corporate operating results regarding costs, budget, operations policies, trends, and increased profit opportunities.


Responsibilities:


  • Oversees the activities of the corporate accounting department for the accurate and timely dissemination of financial management reports, including but not limited to internal and external monthly and fiscal annual financial statements, annual audits, and annual budgets.


  • Manages the disbursement activities, ensuring accurate and timely processing of accounts payable, employee expense reports, cash control, payroll processing, and corporate payroll tax compliance.


  • Oversees the accounts receivable activities to ensure accurate processing.


  • Exercises staff supervision over Payroll, A/P, A/R, General Accounting, and Credit and Collection.


  • Manage the consolidation of capital assets; maintain operating budgets; check appropriation requests against approved budgets for available funds before commitment; and exercise accounting control to ensure that budgeted expenditures do not exceed amounts authorized.


  • Prepares the annual SG&A budget in partnership with the COO and President.


  • Manage the external audit process for the company’s annual financial statements. Serve as the primary accounting liaison with External Auditors to provide support and guidance in preparing schedules and other analyses supporting the annual and interim audits.


  • Lead relationships with external banks and Corporate Group Treasury to establish and maintain adequate accounts.


  • Manage the preparation and filing of U.S. tax returns covering federal, state, local, property, sales, and use taxes and the transfer pricing report.


  • Prepare annual tax provision package and provide it to the regional corporate office located in Germany.


  • Establish and implement departmental goals, objectives, accounting, and operating procedures; manage and develop staff, including building, coaching, and mentoring the accounting team.


  • Identify opportunities for process improvement and efficiencies. Proactively question processes and procedures and implement change to gain efficiencies and streamline workflows.


  • Interprets operating results as they affect corporate financial aspects and makes specific recommendations, which may result in cost reduction and profit improvement.


  • Establish, implement, and monitor appropriate internal controls to ensure conformance and compliance with IFRS and other statutory requirements (Sarbanes-Oxley) and compliance with our company’s Financial Accounting policies.


  • Maintains the division chart of accounts; assigns new classifications and cost centers/ profit centers as necessary.


  • Recommends and develops policies, procedures, and systems to meet corporate objectives.


  • Stays abreast of trends and regulations to ensure effectiveness and compliance with accounting and audit functions.


  • Participate in various special projects and compile various special reports.


Education:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting is required.
  • Master’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration is preferred



Experience/Requirements:


  • Minimum of 10 years of accounting experience with at least 6 years in a leadership role.
  • Proven experience managing a team and leading accounting functions in a complex, fast-paced environment.
  • SAP experience is a must
  • HFM, ANAPLAN, and Concur are preferred.


Physical Demands/Work Environment:


This position requires using typical office equipment such as a computer, laptop, and cell phone. Most work is completed in an office environment.
