Title: Embedded Hardware Engineer Manager
Location: Round Rock, TX (onsite M-F, flexible hours)
Essential Functions:
- Lead and manage hardware engineering teams, fostering a culture of collaboration and accountability.
- Design and develop high-performance, reliable hardware for embedded systems using microcontrollers, sensors, and both analog and digital interface circuits.
- Oversee the creation of production programmers and testing equipment.
- Translate marketing needs into cost-effective, practical product designs.
- Collaborate with other development and support divisions to create innovative products and applications.
- Ensure products comply with regulatory standards and certifications such as UL and FCC.
- Guide products from conception to manufacturing release and field implementation.
- Contribute to strategic and operational planning, including product direction, team resourcing, and budget forecasting.
- Integrate emerging technologies to enhance product offerings.
- Protect innovations through patent documentation and applications.
Must-Have Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field from an accredited institution.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in hardware development for embedded systems, with a focus on digital circuits (some analog experience is also required).
- At least 5 years of experience managing engineering teams in a product development environment.
- Proven experience with regulatory standards and certification processes (e.g., UL, FCC).
- Familiarity with communication protocols such as Ethernet, I2C, RS232, RS485, and SPI.
- Experience with PCB design software (e.g., Altium) and Solidworks for electrical designs.
- Strong knowledge of hardware engineering best practices.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills (both verbal and written).
- Leadership abilities with a track record of mentoring and motivating teams.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Advanced degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
- Proficiency in PCB layout and schematic capture tools (e.g., PADS).
- Firmware development experience for embedded systems.
- Experience in commercial and industrial lighting control systems.
- Familiarity with Agile development methodologies.
- Knowledge of security measures for embedded systems.
- Experience with wireless communication technologies such as Zigbee, Thread, and Bluetooth Mesh.
- Experience coordinating with teams across multiple locations.
