Job Description:

The Financial Operations Specialist – DTC Settlements is responsible for specialized functions within Trade Processing, focusing on the processing and settlement of security trades through the Depository Trust Company (DTC). The role encompasses trade settlement, SPO processing, client communication, and reconciliation, ensuring smooth and efficient operations while adhering to established deadlines and minimizing risk.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Trade Processing & Settlement:
  • Process all deliver and receive orders settling with other brokers and banks, including equities, corporate fixed income, and commercial paper trades clearing through DTC for custody accounts.
  • Adhere to all daily deadlines and ensure timely trade settlement.
  • Verify trade information against broker presentations received from clients via the Sonic system, including account number, quantity, and CUSIP details.
  • Issue Resolution:
  • Review and resolve discrepancies in order information (e.g., DTC reclaims).
  • Escalate high-value problem trades to management as needed.
  • Communicate professionally and constructively with internal and external clients, counterparties, and stakeholders via email, phone, and other channels to resolve issues efficiently.
  • Client Service & Communication:
  • Deliver superior client service by providing timely updates and resolution support.
  • Collaborate effectively within a team to achieve collective goals.
  • Reporting & Process Improvement:
  • Contribute to management reporting by providing statistics on work volumes and identifying key trends.
  • Participate in firm or division-wide process improvement initiatives to enhance efficiency and productivity.
  • Gain an understanding of how specific functions impact broader firm operations.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Proficiency with PC applications and the ability to adapt to new systems.
  • Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to identify, escalate, and resolve issues effectively.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills for professional client and team interactions.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to manage time efficiently, meet deadlines, and perform well under pressure.
