This position is a direct hire, full-time, onsite opportunity located near Henrietta, NY. Candidates must be comfortable with some day travel 1 time a month.
Responsibilities
- Develops and enforces safety policies and procedures for company and plant personnel, ensuring compliance with OSHA, FDA, DEC, NEC, NYSDA, NIOSH, ANSI, NFPA, DEP, and other applicable regulations.
- Conducts qualitative and quantitative analyses of systems, activities, and operations to identify potential hazards.
- Inspects company facilities to identify hazards and risks, recommending and implementing corrective or preventive actions as needed.
- Oversees the investigation of incidents and injuries, collaborates on preparing necessary materials and evidence, and ensures accurate and comprehensive records are documented and securely maintained.
- Prepares and submits incident and injury reports as required by regulatory agencies.
- Designs and delivers safety training programs for new hires, existing employees, temporary staff, and contractors to enhance safe practices and safety awareness.
- Represents the company in community and industry safety groups, fostering external collaboration and engagement.
- Maintains comprehensive safety records, including training logs, incident reports, policies, and regulatory documentation.
- Oversees annual health-related compliance testing, such as for noise levels and odors, ensuring employees receive appropriate evaluations.
- Directs environmental testing and ensures the proper installation, labeling, and monitoring of compliance-related equipment.
- Conducts internal security investigations and ensures the perimeter and physical plant security measures are maintained effectively.
- Keeps professional credentials up-to-date and maintains current knowledge of EHS best practices and regulations.
- Collaborates with engineering and operations teams to assess safety risks during new equipment commissioning and ensures the implementation of appropriate safety measures.
- Leads initiatives to meet environmental regulatory standards and ensures compliance across operations.
- Develops and manages safety scorecards, communication strategies, recognition programs, and other initiatives to strengthen the company’s safety culture.
- Oversees safety and environmental aspects of capital expenditure (Capex) projects and identifies future needs.
- Manages facility wastewater processes to ensure compliance and efficiency.
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Industrial Hygiene, Industrial Safety, or a related field.
Experience
- At least 5 years of management experience in Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) or equivalent leadership experience within the manufacturing sector.
- Comprehensive knowledge of OSHA, EPA, and other regulatory requirements and best practices.
