Minimum of 5 years of experience has an opportunity for a Project Engineer at Cedar Rapids, IA. We are looking for a positive, self-motivated, passionate individual with a strong desire to work in a fast-paced design environment to help us develop next generation technologies.
Responsibilities
Engineering projects to support Miniature Circuit Breakers portfolio.
Lead product changes such as new material selection, production line transfers, change of suppliers for different component’s categories as sheet metal, molded plastics, packaging, stamped parts.
Conduct mechanical / electric performance test plans for verification and validation purposes per design guidelines and codes and standards.
Understand the methodology of conducting offer evolution and offer creation.
Understand the basic of the industrial devices’ characteristics and environment testing process.
Obtain diverse offer marketing requirements and translate those into engineering requirements.
Apply methodical problem-solving techniques (e.g. 5 Whys) and tools (e.g. Fishbone Diagram) to solve problems.
Understand, oversee and/or participate on the development or maintenance of definition files:
3D models (CREO or similar CAD software experience a plus)
3D assemblies
2D drawings (Drawing standards, GD&T, and Tolerance Analysis experience preferred)
BOM creation
Qualification:
Degree or Bachelor’s in Electrical / Mechanical / Mechatronics Engineering (or similar)
Ability to analyze complex problems and present proposals/solutions in a concise manner to a diverse audience.
Experience on Mechanical/Electrical Engineering, preferably with exposure to product development processes, testing and evaluation methods, Codes & standards (Working along circuit breaker development is a plus)
Knowledge of systems engineering, offer development and product lifecycle
Previous experience with Creo and Windchill is a plus
Understand material properties, manufacturing processes and design best practices.
Identify and assure the right design interfaces between mechanics and electronics.
Electronic, electric, circuit analysis knowledge is a plus.
Good technical report writing skills
Good communication skills to be able to work with multiple stakeholders
Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
