Job Type: Full-Time/Hourly (Non-Exempt)

Salary Range: $23.00-$26.00/hour

Job Overview:

The Safety Coordinator assists with all safety programs for lease truck drivers to ensure compliance with all transportation and safety regulations to include but not limited to DOT, OSHA, and all state and federal regulations.

The Safety Coordinator is a full-time position with typical hours on Monday-Friday from 8:00 A.M. to 5:00 P.M., as well as overtime when required.

This is a 100% in-person position based in Little Rock, AR.

Essential Functions:

  • Complying with all procedures outlined in Central Hauling’s Policy Manuals, Department Standard Operating Procedures, FMCSA Regulations, DOT, and OSHA requirements.
  • Run daily reports to view the following:
  • HOS violations
  • Unassigned driving
  • Odometer jumps
  • Yard moves
  • Personal conveyance
  • Counseling drivers on any discrepancies and enter any council into the driver’s performance file.
  • Reviewing new drivers’ application and all Tenstreet documents.
  • Overseeing orientation for new lease truck drivers and going over Central Hauling procedures with them.
  • Creating DOT files for new drivers.
  • Setting up insurance for new drivers/drivers changing lease trucks.
  • Ensuring that Operator Agreements are completed correctly and files in the drivers’ file.
  • Ensuring driver file compliance, reviewing a weekly report from RAIR and resolving non-compliance issues.
  • Monitoring expiring documents and ensuring that new ones are received.
  • Monitoring driver terminations and ensuring the proper updates are made.
  • Inputting accidents into AS400.
  • Filing accident claims with Insurance companies
  • Investigating accidents as they occur.
  • Training drivers when needed.
  • Ensuring any damaged trucks are properly repaired.
  • Charging drivers for damages from accidents if applicable.
  • Overseeing IVG training/New GeoTab onboarding.
  • Overseeing Safety Direct, logging into the website and reviewing the data, then assigning the proper action code.
  • Conducting weekly safety meetings, creating power points and updating drivers on any issues from the previous week.
  • Research content to include in weekly safety meetings.
  • Assisting drivers with log issues, MVR issues, sending Passenger insurance forms, or any other issues as needed.
  • Answering phone calls.
  • Performing other duties as assigned by the Safety Manager.

Qualifications

  • Experience in fleet/trucking transportation industry, with Safety and/or DOT administration experience preferred.
  • Knowledge of the current laws and regulations for DOT and FMCSA.

  • Computer proficiency and technical aptitude with the ability to use Microsoft products (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint.)
  • Effective communication skills – verbal and written.
  • Professional integrity, confidentiality and sense of responsibility and accountability.
  • Highly organized and efficient worker; skilled at multi-tasking, prioritizing, and time management.
  • Willing to take initiative and work independently when needed but also be able to work in a team atmosphere.
