Job Description

Ruskin, an Air Distribution Technologies, Inc. subsidiary, is seeking an Application Engineer III . The Application Engineer will be responsible for providing assistance to representatives and customers by providing controls product knowledge and pricing assistance, and assisting the Sales Leader with product promotion and introduction of product.


What You'll Do:

  • Provide technical support for both internal and external customers in the areas of selection and application.
  • Assist with competitive product research that will be used to help create definitions for new product development projects. Research includes: competitive price analysis, competitive performance analysis, feature and accessory analysis, and overview of strengths or weaknesses compared to competitors
  • Review blueprints/drawings, plans, and other customer documents to develop and prepare cost estimates or projected increases in production from customer's use of proposed products.
  • Assist in performing a material take-off from contract documents periodically.
  • Fulfill the responsibilities of the sales department with orders, which includes the following. Customer purchase order execution, internal pricing clarification, customer change order write-up and pricing, order write-up for order entry, clarification with engineering for construction, addressing of customer concerns during fabrication, arranging for special freight and resolving of disputes.
  • Assist with literature development projects including catalogs, price sheets, installation and maintenance manuals, submittals and case studies.
  • Coordinate special design requests and special pricing with internal resources to ensure the company can meet its commitments.
  • Identify and find solutions to field application problems using experience and other departments as resources.
  • Assist with the development of internal and external sales and product training seminars.
  • Assist in the creation of electronic presentations to support sales efforts.
  • Maintain familiarity with the competitor's products and apply this knowledge to Ruskin's advantage.
  • Continuous development of product / process knowledge through plant visits, process raising seminars or others as required.


What You’ll Bring:

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or a related engineering from a ABET-accredited University
  • 5+ years of engineering experience with a focus on electrical circuits, mechanical systems, and instrumentation. Demonstrated expertise in electronic components, circuit theory, and signal integrity.
  • 2+ years of experience working in SolidWorks or CAD software
  • Understanding of building automation systems (BAS) and how to program and troubleshoot them through knowledge of PLC (Programmable Logic Controllers), SCADA (Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition), and DCS (Distributed Control Systems).
  • Familiarity with networking protocols used in building automation, such as Ethernet/IP, BACnet, Modbus and Profibus
  • Ability to travel up to 20% of the time

Preferred:

  • Knowledge and experience with HVAC systems, including heat pumps, boilers, air handlers, chillers, and associated controls
  • International Society of Automation (ISA) certification(s), such as Certified Control Systems Technician (CCST) or Certified Automation Professional (CAP).
  • PCB design software experience or certification, such as Altium Designer, Cadence Allergro, KiCad, and Mentor Graphics
  • Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, C++, or Java


Work Environment

While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to handle or feel; reach with hands and arms; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; talk or hear or smell. The employee is sometimes required to climb or balance. The employee must regularly lift and /or move up to 10 pounds, occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. The employee is also regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts. The employee is occasionally exposed to outside weather conditions and vibration.
