Job Overview
We are seeking a seasoned Technical Project Manager with expertise in retail operations, Point of Sale (POS) upgrade/implementation, and vendor/third-party management. This role will involve leading a critical POS modernization initiative for a national retail chain, ensuring timely and successful execution while collaborating with cross-functional teams and external stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities
Project Management
- Lead end-to-end planning, execution, and delivery of a POS upgrade/implementation project, specifically Oracle Xstore or similar systems like NCR or Verifone.
- Define project scope, objectives, timelines, and budgets in collaboration with stakeholders.
- Track project milestones, manage risks, and ensure deliverables meet quality standards and business goals.
Retail & POS Expertise
- Leverage experience in retail operations to align POS system upgrades with store-level processes and customer experience goals.
- Work closely with retail staff and IT teams to ensure seamless integration and user adoption.
- Oversee testing, training, and rollout strategies across a national chain of stores.
Vendor & Third-Party Management
- Manage relationships with vendors, third-party providers, and implementation partners.
- Negotiate contracts, oversee deliverables, and resolve escalations effectively.
- Monitor vendor performance and adherence to SLAs (Service Level Agreements).
Dashboard Reporting & Insights
- Use Power BI to create and maintain dashboards that provide visibility into project status, budgets, and key performance indicators (KPIs).
- Present regular updates and insights to executive leadership and stakeholders.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Coordinate with internal teams, including IT, operations, finance, and store managers, to ensure alignment and communication throughout the project lifecycle.
- Act as a liaison between technical teams and non-technical stakeholders, translating complex technical details into actionable business insights.
Required Skills & Qualifications
- Proven experience as a Technical Project Manager with a focus on POS system implementation or upgrades (e.g., Oracle Xstore, NCR, Verifone).
- Strong background in retail environments, preferably with national chains or multi-store operations.
- Demonstrated expertise in vendor and third-party management, including contract negotiation and performance monitoring.
- Proficiency in Power BI or similar tools for dashboard reporting and data visualization.
- Exceptional organizational, problem-solving, and communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Certifications : PMP (Project Management Professional) or equivalent.
- Familiarity with agile methodologies and tools (e.g., JIRA, Trello).
- Experience managing budgets and financial reporting for large-scale projects.
- Knowledge of retail technologies beyond POS, such as inventory management or customer loyalty systems.
