Job Description

DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Post holder will be required to provide direct substance use disorder counseling services and support for all assigned clients.

• Perform client intake process and appropriate initial assessments to determine the need for substance use treatment and or mental health care.

• Work closely with clients to engage them in the decision-making process and help them understand the benefits of assessment and accessing appropriate levels of care.

• In collaboration with client, develop client-informed/directed goals and treatment plans.

• Use a combination of agency-approved evidence-based substance use treatment strategies for individual, group, and/or family therapy sessions, as appropriate.

• Use a strengths-based and trauma-informed approach to work collaboratively with clients.

• Screen and refer clients for HIV/STI/Viral Hepatitis testing.

• Continuously assess client need and refer and link client to other needed health, human, and social support services, including housing vocational/employment training and recovery support services.

• Input all client data and complete case notes, as per funding source guidelines.

• Carry an active caseload of 38 to 45 clients.


QUALIFICATIONS:

• Master's degree in social work, Psychology, Counseling, or other related field preferred plus Certified Alcohol and Drug Counselor, CADC license from the state of NJ in good standing.

• A minimum of three (3) years of experience delivering services to individuals and groups.

• Working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and Office 365  Bilingual English and Spanish preferred.


SUPERVISORY RELATIONSHIP:

Reports directly to the Project Director and/or Program Coordinator.


SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED:

Demonstrated understanding of trauma-informed care and depression, anxiety, and stress impact. Must be able to participate in a multidisciplinary team structure and to represent the agency in local, state, and national meetings. Must be willing to keep informed of SUD and trauma-informed best practices and share with colleagues. Must possess excellent oral and written communication skills in both English and Spanish.


TRAVEL/SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:

Willing to travel to meetings, training courses, and conferences as required. Ability and willingness to work a flexible schedule Monday through Saturday and early morning and evening hours.
