POSITION OVERVIEW:

We are seeking a part-time HR Specialist to join our dynamic team. This role is ideal for a self-motivated HR professional who thrives in a mission-driven environment and has experience with HR operations, compliance, and employee engagement. The ideal candidate must reside in California to ensure compliance with state-specific employment laws.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES :

• Oversee HR compliance and ensure adherence to California labor laws.
• Assist with recruitment efforts, including posting job ads, screening resumes, and coordinating interviews.
• Evaluate, update and maintain job descriptions as well as performance review process.
• Manage HR Platform (BambooHR), process payroll, manage documentation.
• Update and maintain employee records and handbooks.
• Provide support on employee relations, performance management, and conflict resolution.  Help build a thriving culture at Essential Oxygen.
• Draft and send employee HR notifications and updates.
• Coordinate on-boarding and off-boarding processes.
• Support BCorp, diversity, equity, and inclusion initiatives.
• Assist with ad hoc HR projects and process improvements as needed.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS :

• Minimum 3 years of HR experience, preferably within a small-to-medium-sized business.
• Strong knowledge of California employment laws and regulations.
• Working knowledge of Bamboo HR Platform
• Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills.
• Proven ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion.
• Self-starter with excellent time management and organizational skills.
• Knowledge of culture building practices

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS :

• HR certification (PHR, SHRM-CP, or equivalent).
• Experience in the natural products or sustainability-focused industries.
