We are partnered with a leading Artificial Intelligence Research company who is looking for a Data Scientist for their Monitoring Operations team. You will play a critical role in building and enhancing systems designed to proactively identify abuse across products. You will ensure robust monitoring is in place for new product launches while maintaining ongoing monitoring for existing products. You will also be responsible for addressing critical escalations that go beyond the scope of current safety systems. This role requires deep expertise in products and data and involves close collaboration with product, policy, and engineering teams.

Key Responsibilities:

• Scope and implement monitoring requirements for new product launches by working closely with Product, Policy, and Engineering teams.
• Respond to urgent escalations, particularly those that are not detected by current safety systems, by utilizing a deep understanding of products and data.
• Participate in an on-call rotation to resolve urgent issues outside normal working hours.
• Ensure we have robust monitoring systems to identify and address key risks in new and existing products.
• Work cross-functionally with product, policy, engineering, and safety teams to ensure comprehensive abuse detection and mitigation strategies are in place.
• Investigate sensitive content, including sexual, violent, or otherwise disturbing material, in a responsible and effective manner.

Qualifications:

• At least 4 years of experience in technical analysis, particularly with SQL and Python.
• Experience working in trust and safety roles or closely collaborating with policy, enforcement, and engineering teams.
• Familiarity with basic data engineering practices such as building core tables or writing data pipelines (Note: Infrastructure or production-level coding is not required).
• Experience scaling and automating processes, especially in the context of language models.

Nice to Have Qualifications:

• Experience with proactive abuse detection systems or safety monitoring.
• Familiarity with AI, machine learning, and language model-based tools and technologies.
