The Role:
The Demand Planner plays a critical role in forecasting demand, managing inventory, and aligning supply chain operations to meet the company’s dynamic needs and growth plans. The ideal candidate is a detail oriented, highly organized, analytical thinker who will help optimize operational efficiency by blending strategic planning and tactical execution. The role will provide visibility and insights to the wider Showroom organization and ensure inventory levels are strategically managed to allow the company to provide exceptional client service. Additionally, the role will analyze trends and forecast demand to allow for the right inventory of furniture, decor and all other related accessories that meet clients’ demands.
Key day-to-day functions for the role include:
(1) Demand Planning and Forecasting
- Develop and generate consensus around demand forecasts for multiple business units within the organization
- Aggregate information from multiple data sources to provide appropriate visibility
- Analyze historical sales trends, research demand drivers and prepare forecast data
- Develop statistical forecast models and evaluate forecast results, adjusting purchase plans accordingly
- Collaborate with sales, inventory and product development teams to understand demand forecast drivers
- Lead and continue to develop the monthly Sales and Operations Planning (S&OP) process
- Review all production timelines to help generate purchase orders based on item and category demand
- Maintain visibility on all domestic and international purchase orders
- Work cross-functionally to ensure smooth new product introductions through physical disposition (liquidation)
(2) Inventory Management
- Analyze inventory trends to make data-driven buying decisions that support demand, including seasonal demand by market
- Coordinate with procurement and inventory teams to align purchasing strategies based on production timelines and global manufacturing partners
- Work closely with inventory team to understand SKU utilization (usage, efficiency, profitability)
(3) Data Analysis and Reporting
- Develop, maintain and evaluate metrics, DOMO dashboards (and eventually a more robust BI tool), Anvyl production data and Salesforce pipelines
- Prepare reporting packages for various business units within the organization
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in supply chain management, business administration, logistics, or a related field.
- Advanced degrees or certifications (e.g., APICS Certified Supply Chain Professional) are often preferred.
- Experience with tools like Excel (advanced level), SQL, or statistical software (e.g., R, Python, SAS)
- Familiarity with demand planning and supply chain software
- Knowledge of enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems and customer relationship management (CRM) tools
- Expertise in building and supervising all relevant workstreams for this role, including financial modeling, strategic planning, budgeting, forecasting, and analytics.
- 3-5+ years of experience in demand planning, forecasting, or a related role.
