The Superintendent is responsible for overseeing all field operations on construction projects, ensuring that both self-performed and subcontracted work is completed in compliance with contract specifications, project schedules, and safety standards. The Superintendent plays a key leadership role in managing the daily operations of the job site, driving project success, and ensuring high-quality, cost-effective results. Projects will be in the NY Metropolitan area.
Key Responsibilities:
- Project Supervision: Oversee the installation of work on one or more projects, ensuring timely and cost-effective execution according to contract documents and schedules.
- Leadership & Training: Mentor and train Assistant Superintendents and Project Engineers. Foster a collaborative team environment and encourage professional development.
- Work Planning & Scheduling: Develop and maintain a comprehensive project schedule, sequence of work, and resource allocation plan to ensure efficient project flow and on-time delivery.
- Contract Management: Maintain a strong understanding of the project’s contract documents, including owner contracts, subcontracts, and purchase orders.
- Material & Equipment Management: Monitor critical path material delivery schedules and ensure proper equipment availability for project needs.
- Cost Control & Productivity: Oversee field labor, material, and equipment usage to ensure work is completed in the most cost-effective manner. Track field productivity and adjust as needed to meet project goals.
- Safety & Quality Compliance: Implement and enforce the company’s safety program, conducting regular safety inspections to ensure compliance with safety regulations, project standards, and OSHA requirements. Take corrective action as necessary.
- Scope Management & Problem Solving: Actively address and resolve any conflicts related to project scope, ensuring clear communication and swift resolution.
- Punch List & Project Completion: Ensure all punch list items are addressed and completed in a timely manner, ensuring project completion to the highest standards.
Preferred Skills & Qualifications:
- 6+ years of experience in civil construction or related industry.
- In-depth knowledge of the construction process, including scheduling, contract administration, manpower management, and equipment use.
- Proven ability to lead and manage field operations, ensuring successful project delivery.
- Strong knowledge of applicable construction regulations, including OSHA standards.
- Excellent communication, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
