Job Responsibilities: The Director of Engineering is responsible for the design, integration of detailing and production standards.
• Lead/Build team in all areas of Mechanical Design; HVAC, Plumbing, Controls, Sustainability, and Performance Contracting
• Build relationships both internally and externally with developers, architects, engineers, contractors and subcontractors/vendors
• Work closely with the project team to deliver presentations and assess mechanical options for new construction, major renovations, interior buildouts, and existing buildings
• Provide technical leadership in the development of high performance, low energy design solutions.
• Prepare and present professional recommendations, reports, and results to clients and teams
• Represent the company in sales support role when negotiating new work and as a design professional at project design team meetings
• Support all estimating efforts as may be required to assure thoroughness of scope and intent, including preparing preliminary (redline) design layouts for estimating on significant project proposal
• Participate in conceptual design sessions for specific projects

• Produce complete working drawings and specification documents (where required) on specific projects
• Collaboration with detailing, including verification that systems are being laid out per the engineered drawings as cost effectively as possible
• Be the group authority on code compliance, while updating and maintaining internal Company standard "Specifications"
• Participate in formal engineering training of company personnel and provide specific direction of on-the-job training for design engineers, drafters and interns
• Lead efforts in recruiting and the company internship program for Engineering and the Project Group.
Job Qualifications:
• 10 years of HVAC and/or plumbing experience for commercial and/or industrial projects
• 5-10 years of experience leading a team of engineers
• Educational and experience requirements include: 4-year engineering degree or equivalent
• California Professional Engineer license (PE) preferred
• Excellent understanding of engineering fundamentals
• Working knowledge of system types, equipment, installation standards and procedures is necessary
• Ability to assume responsibility, interface and communicate with others is essential
• Must be proficient in use of Energy Pro, Trace 700 and AutoCAD Version 2023 or later
• Revit 2024 or BIM experience is preferred
• Prior experience with mechanical contractor or engineering consultant preferred.
