The Director of Engineering is responsible for leading the design, development, and delivery of high-quality equipment for complex client projects, ensuring safety, timeliness, and adherence to budget. This role involves establishing design standards, overseeing custom-engineered integrated systems, and driving continuous improvement to meet both end-user needs and client expectations.
The ideal candidate will focus on technical analysis, design, and team development while fostering a lean culture of shared learning, transparency, and innovation.
Key Responsibilities:
- Build and lead a responsive engineering team to manage client projects from order receipt to equipment delivery and commissioning.
- Cultivate a team-oriented culture that emphasizes excellence, shared learning, and recognition of success.
- Develop and implement equipment, component, and design standards aligned with customer needs and best practices.
- Continuously improve existing equipment and processes, including water heaters, heat recovery systems, wastewater equipment, and related standards.
- Construct and execute a technology roadmap to enhance organizational capabilities and innovation.
- Develop efficient systems and processes to eliminate waste and deliver high-quality equipment.
- Use KPIs to measure success and drive performance.
- Champion lean methodologies, including PDCA, value stream mapping, kaizen, standard work, problem-solving, and 5S principles.
- Manage, coach, and develop engineering staff, including performance evaluations, training, and hiring.
- Foster positive relationships across teams and departments.
- Address technical and operational inquiries from field teams and clients.
- Document processes, solve complex challenges, and capture lessons learned to improve future performance.
Qualifications:
-Required:
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering or a related field.
- 10+ years of engineering leadership experience.
- Strong expertise in heat transfer, combustion, and wastewater treatment principles.
- Familiarity with process equipment instrumentation and controls.
- Minimum of 10 years of progressive engineering roles, including 3+ years in an engineered-to-order environment and 5+ years managing multidisciplinary teams.
- Proficiency in MS Office Suite.
- Excellent communication and organizational skills.

- Master’s degree in engineering or a related discipline.
- Certifications such as PE or equivalent.
- Experience with Six Sigma, Lean methodologies, and project management.
- Knowledge of industry standards (e.g., ASME, AWS, UL, NSF, NEC, NFPA, IEC).
