Plant Engineer
Location: Joplin, MO
Position Overview
A manufacturing facility in Joplin is seeking a skilled Plant Engineer to oversee the design, construction, modification, and maintenance of industrial equipment and machinery. Reporting to the General Manager or Assistant General Manager, this role manages engineering operations across all plant areas, including building systems, equipment, electrical systems, and control systems. The Plant Engineer will lead process improvements, manage engineering projects, and provide critical support for operational and maintenance needs to ensure optimal plant performance. This role requires availability to address equipment issues during nights and weekends as needed.

- Support daily plant operations, production, and maintenance activities.
- Develop, plan, and execute capital projects in collaboration with Operations and Maintenance teams; maintain a 3+ year capital plan.
- Utilize Six Sigma or similar methodologies to measure, correct, and control process variations.
- Assist maintenance teams to enhance equipment reliability and implement improvements.
- Manage the maintenance budget, providing monthly and quarterly financial reports and preparing the annual budget.
- Approve requisitions, obtain quotes, approve invoices, and address budget variances.
- Provide and coordinate training for personnel, emphasizing reliability and equipment safety.
- Lead or assist in root cause problem elimination (RCPE) reports and implement corrective actions.
- Oversee plant equipment and system drawings, insurance, fire protection systems, contractor insurance requirements, and Management of Change (MOC) processes.
- Plan and execute internal and external tank inspections and ensure compliance with regulations.
- Collaborate with the maintenance department to update BOMs and document equipment changes.
- Foster a culture of teamwork, communication, and collaboration among plant personnel.
- Limited travel required (<10%).
Qualifications
- Master’s degree in Engineering with 2 years of relevant experience, or Bachelor’s degree in Engineering with 5 years of relevant experience.
- Strong interpersonal skills with a team-oriented, servant-leader approach.
- Proficiency in data collection, statistical analysis, and process improvement techniques (Six Sigma certification preferred).
- Advanced computer skills, including proficiency with CAD software.
- Expertise in PLC programming, HMI controls, and process/machine control programming (Siemens and Allen Bradley preferred).
- In-depth knowledge of pneumatics, hydraulics, and thermodynamics.
- Ability to obtain Six Sigma certification if not already certified.
