What You’ll Do
As an Automation Engineer, you will:
- Lead and support automation/control systems projects, including facility upgrades, control system migrations, and lifecycle maintenance of automation systems in a liquid storage terminal environment.
- Provide subject matter expertise on automation/control systems and instrumentation.
- Guide technical teams through project planning, technical designs, and functional specifications.
- Maintain the integrity and lifecycle of automation systems across terminals.
- Manage vendor relationships, ensuring service delivery aligns with technical and quality requirements.
Core Responsibilities:
- Ensure compliance with safety procedures, including SH&E principles and values.
- Develop and execute technical designs, specifications, and project documentation.
- Support migration from PLC-based systems to advanced DCS/SIS platforms like Emerson DeltaV.
- Perform system configuration, troubleshooting, and lifecycle maintenance.
- Lead and participate in HAZOP/PHA activities to ensure compliance with safety standards.
- Collaborate with operations and maintenance teams to align automation designs with operational needs.

What We Expect
Education :
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering from an accredited university (advanced degrees preferred).
Experience :
- 6–8 years in automation, instrumentation, and process controls in petrochemical, refining, or oil & gas industries.
- Expertise in Emerson DeltaV DCS, SIS systems, and Rockwell PLCs; Wonderware experience is a plus.
- Familiarity with industrial standards like ISA 88, ISA 95, and IEC61511.
- Knowledge of OT cybersecurity and IT/OT convergence principles.
Skills :
- Proficiency in system design, project management, and stakeholder communication.
- Strong problem-solving, negotiation, and team collaboration abilities.
- Ability to travel up to 20% (primarily to Corpus Christi, TX).
Work Environment & Physical Demands
- Exposure to varying weather conditions and occasional hazardous chemicals.
- May involve climbing, confined spaces, and lifting up to 50 pounds.
- Office and field work requiring appropriate PPE.
