The Applications Technologist position in Nutrition specializes in the development of a wide variety of finished goods in the health and wellness, sports and protein category with the some guidance from a senior member of the team
Roles & Responsibilities:
- Optimize nutrition based formulations with understanding of processing parameters and writing production formulas
- Formulating with both dairy and alternative proteins is required and knowledge of powder (RTM) and ready to drink formulations.
- Utilize flavor knowledge to select best flavor for each application and work closely with flavor creation team to optimize flavors when needed
- Work collaboratively with sales and marketing presentations and demos for customers
- Provide technical support on customer calls
- Participate in routine taste panels
- Keep up-to-date on technologies, science and trends related to the flavor industry as well as health and wellness, sports nutrition, whey protein and alternative proteins categories
- Maintain organized and efficient laboratory equipment and environment.
Requirements:
- BS degree or higher in Food Science or other applied science
- 0-3 years of experience in product development with flavor industry experience preferred
- Experience with functional ingredient in health and wellness applications
- Ability to work accurately, quickly and with good laboratory practices.
- Ability to communicate effectively and concisely
- Candidate must possess good documentation skills and be adept at working within programs such as Excel, Word & assorted databases.
- Knowledge of recipes, basic mixing and blending skills and the ability to follow formulations precisely is required.
