Asphalt Paving/Milling Foreman
No long-distance travel; all projects are located in Northeast Ohio and the surrounding area.

We are looking for a full-time Asphalt Paving and Milling Foreman to join our team to plan and manage projects that run safely and efficiently while delivering excellent service to our customers.
OVERVIEW
The primary role of the Asphalt Paving and Milling Foreman is to determine the constructability and installation approach for projects. A successful foreman will be able to plan, organize, coordinate & manage all resources for Asphalt Paving / Milling Construction fieldwork assigned while ensuring the safety and efficiency of the work environment is maintained on and off the job.
This role will be in charge of completing projects on time and within budget with their knowledge of project management, equipment, materials, and labor assignments. Daily tasks for this position include coordinating various work activities on multiple projects, as required to meet project schedules, costs, and specifications.
PRIMARY FUNCTIONS OF ROLE:
DEVELOPMENT
- Receive project assignments at the hand-off meetings.
- Obtain project plans, including any necessary permits from the assigned Project Manager to begin initial planning.
- Set up pre-construction meetings on-site with the Project Manager, Superintendent, and Safety Director to strategize and provide a daily game plan with specific goals for the project crew(s).
- Work with Project Managers or clients to walk through the project plans prior to start. Make site visits as required.
- Contact the Ohio Utility Protection Service (OUPS) as required before excavation. Schedule all necessary inspections and testing requirements.
- Attend operations meetings and coordinate materials, equipment, and labor with the Superintendent & Resource Coordinator.
ADMINISTRATIVE
- Engage in pro-active, practical day-to-day problem-solving to maximize the profitability of each project while putting safety as the top priority. Eliminate double-up work potential, demurrage charges, trucking conflicts, etc.
- Secure all items on the site to minimize risk and company liability: safety, theft, equipment damage, etc.
- Enter all labor, material, and required expenses into Heavy Job against project budget(s) daily using proper codes.
- Communicate the need for change orders to the Project Manager, as required.
- Manage "punch" list and exercise independent judgment relative to field changes, task-order sequence changes, etc., with or without minimal impact to the project cost and schedule.
- Support close-outs as required.
- Demobilize the project.
SUPERVISORY
- Work with the crew to develop a project plan: research project locations, dumpsites, lay-down areas, and storage yards.
- Provide day-to-day supervision to the work crew and monitor progress. Provide a daily game plan.
- Evaluate employee performance daily.
- When employees are not performing, document violations of rules/procedures and confer with the Superintendent & VP of Operations to issue corrective action as required.
SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, QUALIFICATIONS, & EXPERIENCE
- 7+ Years of Asphalt field experience
- 3+ Years Asphalt Paving / Milling / Grinder equipment experience
- 3+ Years Construction supervisory experience
- Excellent interpersonal and team communications skills
- Practical problem-solving capability
- Positive attitude & team mentality
TRAINING AND PROFESSIONAL CERTIFICATION REQUIRED
- OSHA 30
- Competent Person
- Traffic Control
- First-Aid/CPR and Flagging
- Advanced-Grade Checking
- JSA (Job Safety Analysis)
- Reading Prints / Drawings
- Heavy Equipment Experience
- Computer & MS Office Knowledge
- Valid ' 'Driver's License
