  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance or related field
  • 7 years' experience in accounting/finance with 3+ years in leadership
  • Advanced with Accounting Software (Oracle)
  • Experience with GAAP and multi-location accounting

FULL DESCRIPTION : The Controller is responsible for planning, implementing, and supervising the company's day-to-day accounting strategy. They will manage the company's financial accounts, payrolls, budget, cash receipts, and financial assets in addition to handling the company's transactions, debts, cash flow, and forecasting. The individual will liaise with the company's and external audit teams and ensure that the Accounting teams use proper accounting procedures to reach financial objectives. Responsibilities also include monitoring/analyzing financial accounting data, creating financial reports based on data analysis, and making recommendations to business stakeholders. The individual will be able to work successfully under tight timelines while not sacrificing the quality of the tasks performed.

The selected candidate will be responsible for:

Management

  • Maintains and enforces a documented system of accepted accounting policies and procedures and adequate controls across all areas of responsibility.
  • Manage a team of 20 accounting professionals, including an Assistant Controller and a head of AP & AR
  • Oversee the accounting operations of 3 brands, ensuring proper controls are maintained, and internal policies and procedures are adhered to.
  • Ensures monthly, quarterly, and annual accounting close procedures are maintained and timely and accurate closure and reporting of the financials is achieved.
  • Oversees GL Accounting, Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, Treasury and Cash Management, Inventory Management, Payroll, Lease Accounting, and Fixed Asset Accounting.
  • Oversees debt payments and ensures they are made on a timely basis.
  • Oversee Cash Management and ensure cash is optimized.
  • Oversee the timely payment of all state and local taxes.
  • Responsible for the P&L, Balance Sheet, Cash Flow Statement, and sign off on audited financials and timely and accurate reconciliation.
  • Liaises with the internal and external auditors to support the audit process to ensure a successful audit.

Reporting

  • Issue timely and complete financial statements
  • Coordinate the preparation of the corporate annual report
  • Recommend benchmarks against which to measure the performance of company operations
  • Calculate and issue financial and operating metrics
  • Prepare and report flux variance analysis to budget and forecast and lead the month-end financial review process
  • Anticipate risks or opportunities and report significant issues to management
  • Provide a system of cost management for the organization
  • Provide financial analyses as needed for capital investments, pricing decisions, and contract negotiations
  • Works closely and develops relationships with leadership peers across the organization and acts as a partner and advisor as needed
  • Liaise with the Korean parent company (eMart) as needed.
  • Compliance
  • Coordinate the provision of information to external auditors for the annual audit
  • Monitor debt levels and compliance with debt covenants
  • Comply with local, state, and federal government reporting requirements and tax filings
  • Other duties as assigned

The selected candidate will also possess:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
  • CPA or MBA preferred.
  • Minimum of 7 years of experience in finance and accounting, with at least 3 years in a leadership role.
  • Thorough knowledge of U.S. GAAP.
  • Knowledge of IFRS standards preferred.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication abilities across all levels of an organization.
  • Strong leadership skills with a dedication to driving and achieving results.
  • Knowledge of employee relationship-building and performance management techniques.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
  • Experience with other financial systems.
  • Retail or grocery experience preferred but not required.

Salary Range: $140-$175/yr
